The Castle of Cagliostro

Discuss the Hayao Miyazaki masterpiece!

This is easily my favorite animated movie of all time by my favorite animated director. You don't even have to be a fan of Lupin the III to appreciate this movie. It has a simple plot of rescuing a princess yet inside that plot is a beautiful story and an action packed film. I watch this film at least once a month since it is an absolute shame not to be seen.

Easily up there with Pan's Labyrinth, The Host, American Psycho & others for my favorite film.

Yes, yes. It's my favorite.

I've watched it like a hundred times now.

I love this movie! It's old, I know, but it's hilarious. It's the only Lupin III movie i've seen, mainly because it's in the Studio Ghibli movie line. Lupin's brilliant, and so's Fujiko XD I especially love the stuff he pulls during the wedding. Great movie :)

It really is a film that even people who don't particularly enjoy Anime or animated features can enjoy since it's not just a great animated film, it's a great Adventure film in general. Steven Spielberg said it best.

Definately. Because it's not really magical or scifi, it's more engaging to those who would otherwise dismiss anime. It's also a decent argument against "Anime is just kid's cartoons" (Remember what happens to the count?)

While I doubt a live-action could capture the vividness of the original film I definitely think it could be done. Nobody thought The Lord of the Rings could be made a live-action film and look what happened.
