When I smashed my hand into the glass of a door (don't ask) and was delivered to a hospital, a doctor and an intern came to check my wound (rather than "check" I was just being treated as an object for the doctor who only challenged the intern.......he wasn't even my doctor to begin with....).
So the doctor asked the intern: What do we have here?
intern: it's a wound in the hand
doctor: Yes, but what is the wound?
intern: it's in the hand

I find it funny how you're insulted at being treated like an object, when that's the only way that the intern can actually learn real experience. Would you rather be treated by a doctor who was never taught?Kor wrote: When I smashed my hand into the glass of a door (don't ask) and was delivered to a hospital, a doctor and an intern came to check my wound (rather than "check" I was just being treated as an object for the doctor who only challenged the intern.......he wasn't even my doctor to begin with....).

I've never said I was insulted, but doctors could be a bit more nice. I was 12 at the time, and the fact that two strangers come out of nowhere, say nothing to you, and start to talk about you and your problems, isn't the best way to go.....Akonyl wrote:I find it funny how you're insulted at being treated like an object, when that's the only way that the intern can actually learn real experience. fair enough, I just thought you made it seem like you were disapproving of the whole situation.Kor wrote:I've never said I was insulted, but doctors could be a bit more nice. Fixed :3;.mangaluva wrote: Yes. That's a doctor. You do surgery if you're a surgeon, you do diagnostics and examinations and write prescriptions if you're a doctor, and you do actual care if you're a nurse. Med school is long and expensive, and trust me, real doctoring isn't as exciting as House. Mostly, it's doing your best to stop people dying yet and not always suceeding. But if it's what you really want to do with your life, then focus on the people you help rather than the people you can't, and i'm sure you'll find it rewarding![]()

If you want to pursue being some sort of doctor, you're going to need a lot of perseverance.
One, you need to thoroughly enjoy all the physical sciences - chem, bio, ochem, etc etc.
Two, you'll have to go to school past high school for around 11-12 years 4, for undergrad, 7 or so for medical school. And it's hard-work. There are tons of people who aspire to be doctors/surgeons/whatever, meaning there is a X amount of competition. This X amount means that not everyone is going to succeed because that's how society works. There will be "weeding-out" classes that differentiate the people who want to become a doctor, and people who actually have the skills to become one.
