Wild guess: I think someone half-mentioned it, but couldn't the mystery woman be Mother Glass?

Well, as Minerva said, her mother lost her vision, so she actually could walking with sunglasses, but she won't see running Ran and Shinichi, even if she heard the sound of running, she wouldn't be so interested and look at them.Key-chan wrote: Wild guess: I think someone half-mentioned it, but couldn't the mystery woman be Mother Glass?

3) He can deceive Ran again with a nice story, some sweet words; then he will save London from the mass murder; then he will meet his parents which will take him to Japan by their private plane.soratothamax wrote:And yet somehow he has to keep his identity. Only two things can happen 1) He confesses he is Shinichi. But then things will get pretty boring between Ran and Shinichi. Especially if they confess to one another. Look at Takagi and Sato...no action so far. Ran's role will decrease within the story. Gosho could be going this route and just ending the whole romantic tragedy deal. 2) He gets the pill. And the only one who could make that pill would be Ai Haibara. If she doesn't make it to London, he will be stuck there. Unless, she sends it to him, but that's risky to send by mail, and it also could take days to reach him. If he wants to cover his identity, someone is going to have to give him the antidote.
Well, I think the confession between Ran and Shinichi won't make their relationship boring. It has been boring for many years, because there was NO ANY development in their relationship. If Ran knew the truth, it would be actually a lot more interesting than last 20 ShinRan love cases. It would be something totally new, because Ran couldn't act as she used to, her behaviour towards Conan would change which would be suspicious...Then...BANG! BO CASE~!! ^o^

Okay, so the second I laid my eyes on the mystery woman at the chapter's end, I thought - Shinichi's mum. Immediately. About ShinRan thing - I think (or hope) the case will result in - try to handle it - a kiss! After all they were almost there during the Desperate Revival arc (quite weird, given Ran wasn't really against kissing the man who she thought was Araide-sensei not her forever-love-Shinichi) and he almost confessed to her in the restaurant too. Maybe it's time for some development.

Re: Files 743-??? Discussion Thread
Okay, I want someone to answer this. Why do people keep going on about how dumb Ran is when it comes to the whole Conan/Shinichi thing? THINK about it logically! How realistic is it for a person age backwards ten years and shrink? She has thought about it, but even she realizes that the very idea is farfetched and, for the most part, impossible, so I don't get why people keep getting on Ran for that. It's unwarranted and stupid that anyone would. How many people do you know who's shrunk? How many of you would actually believe it?
That aside, I will admit that the whole Conan going back to Shinichi in the phone booth was very weak on Gosho's part. As someone else pointed out, someone should've noticed Conan becoming Shinichi or at least seeing him changing his clothes. Not surprised that Gosho set up Ran at an angle so that she wouldn't see him. That aside, imo, she has every right to be angry at Shinichi. She's all loyal to him, but Shinichi's not being honest with her (of course we know that he can't be). IMO, Ran's actions are very realistic.
As for Conan's blunder, I'm glad he actually made it! It shows that he's human and that even he's not immune from making a mistake every once in a while. Seeing as how he was distracted, being in the country of his idol while working on a case, I'm not at all surprised he let his guard down briefly.
That woman is interesting. It sure would be nice if it was Shiho (as I would like to see Shiho and Shinichi working together at least once and also have Ran see the pair together), but as pointed out, it'd be way too dangerous for her to just go running to London to keep an eye on Shinichi, even if she does worry about him at times. I wonder if she actually gave Agasa more pills, but told him to say he didn't have anymore as a way to test Shinichi and see if he can actually follow directions for once.

He should have used a police box instead, at least then it would have made sense when nobody noticed that he changed.

So it's risky to send something by mail, but perfectly okay for her to take a flight when there are known murderers, assassins, and terrorists trying to kill her and anyone near her? Yeah, that makes perfect sense.soratothamax wrote: If she doesn't make it to London, he will be stuck there. Also, it only takes 1 day to mail something if you pay a little more.

@Ssjup81: Haters gonna hate, as they say. Eventhough Ran has figured out many times that Shinichi is Conan, everyone is busy with "she's dumb". But Shinichi is smarter than her, no wonder he can trick her, the great detective. But nooo, Ran is dumb.

Those are definitely the better choice since they are opaque. Also it could have been spun out to be a shout out to Doctor Who, which in the London arc would be appropriate, but I doubt Gosho knows about Dr. Who so...Dus wrote: He should have used a police box instead, at least then it would have made sense when nobody noticed that he changed.
I forgot about the mother's eyes. The translation said "poor vision", not blindness, but light sensitivity could be part of the issue, so the person still may use sunglasses anyway. The mother might have overheard the Japanese and being Japanese herself paid attention. Ran did scream "Minerva Glass said so!" on the previous page.RedPoppy wrote:Well, as Minerva said, her mother lost her vision, so she actually could walking with sunglasses, but she won't see running Ran and Shinichi, even if she heard the sound of running, she wouldn't be so interested and look at them.Key-chan wrote: Wild guess: I think someone half-mentioned it, but couldn't the mystery woman be Mother Glass?

Later Edit: Minerva talked about the mother later; she is blind for sure. Also the mother is a major fan of Sherlock Holmes as Minerva said, so she would definitely pay attention to Ran's words if she knew Japanese "If you are a detective, then at the very least... you should deduce what is in my heart!"

Re: Files 743-??? Discussion Thread
It was Dr. Who who made me think of the police box in the first place, but I agree that, while hugely popular in the UK, most foreigners wouldn't get the reference. Another reason might be that most people wouldn't even know what a police box was, but almost anyone will recognize the iconic red phone booths.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote:Those are definitely the better choice since they are opaque. Yes, Mrs. Glass is the likeliest suspect, but then we're faced with another issue: Who is she? I doubt she's just any old lady.

I just reread the chapter and confirmed she was blind. I edited my above post to reflect my thoughts. I am now definitely in the "Momma Glass" camp.Dus wrote: I also thought her mother was blind, should have re-read that chapter...

Re: Files 743-??? Discussion Thread
I'd be very disappointed in Gosho if it will be revealed that it is really Grandma Glass. She looks too young. I still think it is Shin's mum, though she should be more surprised for seeing him in his teens again... Wait, maybe she's working with Haibara! Of course it's difficult to befriend that girl, but it's still probable. And wouldn't it be nice if Diana Kingston were somehow related to the murderer? Kogoro should deduce that part.
And about Ran - I never thought she was stupid, just too emotional. Sure, it must've been hard for her not to know if her love is alive - for like first five chapters. But now it's just annoying how she's crying over him being somewhere else - even though they still can talk by phone. It's probably not easy, but she often acts as if Shinichi was dead. She's too much of a tragic Juliet-like thing.
