DCTP "Create-A-Shirt" Project - Design Step

That was the plan yeah, breaking even is the priority. And if there would be some profit, like alitle bit, it would be all for DCTP and for the purpose of delivering us the manga and anime we all like. So know one really is gonna get rich in terms of money here lol, only in terms of scanlations and subbed anime.

Just want you guys to think about the copyright laws for this. If you were planning on selling these, you'll need permission to add the character's image, DC logo, and name of show.

About that, isn't that why silouhettes are the best way to go? Because the silouhettes are able to be sold. :]

Any form of a character that looks similar to the original is copyright because people will recognize it, especially the people and companies who do the show and manga. So silouhettes are included to what I just said.

However, if you don't make profit off of these, then that's a different story.

But there's that DC Guidebook which got profit off the title...I think...

But they got permission. When hey get profit, some/a lot of that goes to the creator.

I don't want to see this place to get into trouble for this. To avoid trouble, it would be better to give these away for free, with possibly a catch. Since I think we have a donation thing up, if someone makes a donation to this place, the person can be asked if they want or don't want a t-shirt. That can be one way.

While I'm not 100% sure (I'm not a lawyer), but this seems as if it falls under the Fair Use act.

However, we may end up cancelling this overall, just in case.  We'll see how things go in the next week or so.

I agree. Maybe if some really want a shirt, they could just get the designs here and let the shirt be designed for their own use

Last time I checked if you draw it yourself then you can use. so if we draw the frount and back of the shirt or just one side we can sell it. that was how my school was able to put nemo from finding nemo on our class shirt

Your school got lucky that Disney didn't care (or notice) then.  Just because you draw it, doesn't mean it's free of legal problems.  This is why there are trademarks and copyrights.
