Maybe the culprit is Rafael Nadal. He is darked-skinned and has dreads, well at least long hair.

I just came up with three possible associations:Chekhov MacGuffin wrote:Tried and came up short. There's a Saint John's church near the Waterloo tube stop close to the London eye. There's also a chapel of St. John in the Tower of London. That's the best I came up with...Dus wrote:That's been bugging me as well. A) The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, meaning there will be four murders (or four murderers?)
B)Judgement Day, meaning the murders won't be random but they will be punished for a specific crime.
C) The Apocalypse can also be interpreted as the final struggle between good and evil. That would mean we're in for the finale^^
Everything else about the Apocalypse is probably way too outlandish for the average Japanese reader.

Yeah, I've figured it out afterwards.
Guess I was just a bit of a blockhead, especially since I think so myself.
What would the Big Bang have to with it anyway. Might as well say it's something to do with the Special Theory of Relativity::)

Well, it's certainly iconic of London and a huge tourist attraction. Hardly a gathering place though, and that's what they're looking for after all. The Tower (Bridge), the London Eye and many others haven't been mentioned either.
If this is about Big Ben:
There is an inscription which might become important at some point as a chiffre:
DOMINE SALVAM FAC REGINAM NOSTRAM VICTORIAM PRIMAM
Btw: There's no need for spoiler boxes, people who haven't read the chapter aren't even allowed in here;)
Does anyone else think it's more than unusual for a tennis player to be so fond of Holmes? Maybe she really is Bourbon, (s)he is said to be a Holmes enthusiast as well. The BO has recruited public figures before (Sharon Vinyard).

Personally I think the note is not pointing at a gathering place... but I guess you have a point there.... but it was given to English boys, which is now in London's police investigation, maybe thinking like a native of London is better..... then again, Gosho is not English, so maybe his note really meant for Japanese...... gonna rest b4 I lost more sense

Anyway, either the code is intended for Conan anyway, maybe it even contains plays on words that only work in Japanese, then we have to think Japanese.
Or it really is intended for the British police force, then we have to think like a Japanese trying to think like an Englishman.

Nah, plenty of people like Holmes in unusual circles as I incidentally discovered once IRL. Bourbon is most likely in Japan: scar Akai or Okiya depending on how you lean. (and everyone knows how I lean so I won't bring it up.) Besides, it hasn't been mentioned that Bourbon likes Holmes anyway. Gin described someone, probably Bourbon, as being like Holmes, and Okiya likes Holmes, but the Kentucky Straight dude's opinion on the Victorian era detective has never been clarified.Dus wrote: Does anyone else think it's more than unusual for a tennis player to be so fond of Holmes? Re: Files 743-??? Discussion Thread
True, and maybe Gosho just assumes England is teeming with Holmes.afficionados. But it will definitely have some significance to the story arc. As of now, Minerva being Bourbon is the best I can come up with.
True, it hasn't been said that Bourbon likes Holmes, only that he's like Holmes and maybe Gosho just wants us to believe that Okiya is Bourbon. Also, Holmes seems to be somewhat important in the BO or they wouldn't have used Shelling Ford as a password.
But it's more likely that Bourbon is a man. All of the female BO members' codenames were something to do with wine so far (Vermouth, Sherry, Kir, Chianti) and Whisky is pretty much the manliest drink there is.
