Re: Files 743-??? Discussion Thread
Okay, that's a wild guess, but what if the riddle doesn't point out a place where the murder will occur? That suspicious guy said "Someone will be murdered, somewhere here in London, right before your eyes", so we don't know who will die, but it will happen for sure at the place where all of the children gather.
"That's my revelation" - it could mean there's some information about the victim or the murderer in the riddle. It's also important that the guy with dreads told "If it's impossible to solve, you can even beg HOLMES". Isn't it quite possible that almost every child would go to Baker Street to ask Sherlock Holmes about it? Could it be the place where someone will be murdered? I'm pretty sure that the guy with dreads purposely gave papers with the riddle to children only.

Not that we know of.... he could be anywhere...James Rye wrote:But isn´t Bourbon in Japan currently?Dus wrote: I'd love Minerva as Bourbon. She is - and I quote - HAWT, so it would be bloody brilliant if she became a recurrent character.
Also Ran, girl damm! Don´t cry each time when you remember, see or talk to Shinichi! Just kick his ass, for comedys sake, i´ve seen enough cheap love drama in DC for now! -.-
I think that dude will either just murder one person or blew up a bomb.
As I said before in another thread, she is tough, so I don't know why she cries everytime Shinichi seems angry, or she's angry at Shinichi. She should just give him some of the ol' 'tough love'.
He may put a bomb in the seats where he wants the people killed...

Re: Files 743-??? Discussion Thread
I think Minerva's love troubles will be related to the crime somehow... and I think the idea that a lot of people will be murdered at once is somewhat of a red herring. But if the criminal IS trying to murder a lot of people at once... maybe he could be trying to bomb the London Bridge, then there will be a lot of victims, no? :/

I don't think that he will try to kill many people, but only one. If I remember right, he said to the Apollo-boy "someone will die somewhere in London" and so on...
The word "someone" contains the word "one" so I think that he'll kill only one person. If he intends to kill many people he probably would have said "somebody" instead of "someone".

That's why I think that the riddle is just a part of the information which the murderer wanted to give. Maybe the riddle is really about the person who will be killed soon? We should also think about his last sentence "If it's impossible to solve, you can even beg Holmes". I think the murderer gave the riddle to children on purpose, because only a child would go to Baker Street to see Holmes like Apollo. We should also remember that it must be place where all of the children will gather.ArkAngel wrote: I don't think that he will try to kill many people, but only one. I don't know what to make of these chapters so far, although, I'm really liking them so far, even though that riddle drove me crazy. Seems it took Gosho long enough to do a case based in London given Shinichi's Holmes obsession. Been reading up on old Holmes stories lately, forgot how much I enjoyed them, but never mind the OTness of that.
Anyway, Big Ben is just too obvious, imo, but, as it was pointed out, Conan didn't even consider it, so maybe it is.
I'm hoping for a slight BO reference. I love the Minerva = Bourbon angle. That'd make it really interesting.
What's your opinions on the guy who helps out Minerva?
Hm, I'm still hoping (though unlikely) that Ai shows up in some way. I kinda miss stories that involve her, but, I also know that it's be highly unusual for her to just randomly show up since Haibara Ai isn't a real person and how Shiho is a marked target.

*Sighs* You do know that if Shinichi had acted the way he had right in front of her, she probably would act in the way you said. She always acts tough when Shinichi is physically there (usually), she tends to get vulnerable when he isn't.James Rye wrote:But isn´t Bourbon in Japan currently?Dus wrote: I'd love Minerva as Bourbon. But all of the cildren won't gather there at the same time, because when the last child received the paper from the man the first children would already have been there and left. That makes it impossible to see the murder if it should really be the place. So it's unlikely the place the blacked-skinned guy meant.RedPoppy wrote:That's why I think that the riddle is just a part of the information which the murderer wanted to give. BTW: Murdered, a person will be. Somewhere in London. Sure, in your presence. Tell Scotland Yard. That's my Revelations. If it never makes sense, leave it to Holmes.
That's what he originally said to Apollo.

I keep trying to figure out how the riddle might be related to the Book of Revelations, but my readings of it in the past never left me with an impression of anything coherent or sober happening and we don't have a bible in the house for me to check it up in. It might just be something about judgement.

Re: Files 743-??? Discussion Thread
Ok so, I have just finished reading the chapter for the 5th time, and would like to share my thoughts:
First, about Minerva's love troubles, I am guessing she had a relationship with her former coach Ares; their relationship might have been established as a teacher-student romance (this is possible as Ares is a "former" great tennis player, and was Minerva's "former" coach). Their relationship might not be totally damaged, as Ares was keen on watching Minerva's match. Another point emphasizing this is Minerva's remark about her "not being troubled anymore", meaning that she and Ares are on good terms.
Second, about the last line in the coded warning, I think the "two swords" might be referring to the hands on the clock, and the "white back" referring to the clock's face; the clock itself is probably Big Ben, as it hasn't been mentioned in the case as of yet and the rest of the warning having multiple references to clocks (ringing bell, castle).
Lastly, I am beginning to notice that Conan's careful personality is softening up, as he is taking more direct action in recent cases; this has been noticed by Ran as well, as she is being much more trustful in Conan and relying on him to help her father solve cases. This case might end with a suspicion from Ran, assuming that she is taking more careful notice of Conan's actions.

That's been bugging me as well. Apparently, the Japanes DOES refer to the Apocalypse of John though. Has anyone ever tried a biblical approach?mangaluva wrote: I keep trying to figure out how the riddle might be related to the Book of Revelations, but my readings of it in the past never left me with an impression of anything coherent or sober happening and we don't have a bible in the house for me to check it up in. Well, her finding out about the Conan/Shinichi situation and not getting tricked stupidly is something we've all been waiting for a LONG time, and it would represent a major turn, plot-wise. Ran getting suspicious and then assuming she might be wrong is a twist that's already ruined. For me it doesn't work anymore. The last couple times it happened (the cellphone arc and the shiragami arc) were totally uninteresting and hard to swallow, so if Aoyama is going to try that one again, he'd better take it to the end.Ezio wrote: Lastly, I am beginning to notice that Conan's careful personality is softening up, as he is taking more direct action in recent cases; this has been noticed by Ran as well, as she is being much more trustful in Conan and relying on him to help her father solve cases. Tried and came up short. There's a Saint John's church near the Waterloo tube stop close to the London eye. There's also a chapel of St. John in the Tower of London. That's the best I came up with...Dus wrote:That's been bugging me as well. Apparently, the Japanes DOES refer to the Apocalypse of John though.
