yes, yes he is

seriously just watch the Kogoro Reunion episode and see how much he ruins the awesome "Kogoro will find which one of his friends is the murderer no matter what" scene.

I think he fits Richards personality. also I know something about the dub all of you probably don't. they have not worked on it in years. I found that out from richirds VA. in other words I highly doubt that the same VA where used for the game that are used in funimations version of the anime. I am not shocked that you all hate the dub of case closed since this the forum for the fan-sub of DC, AKA I hate all english dubs except evongalion and cowboy bebop.

Doesn't mean he can't "act". Even if it fits the character, it doesn't mean the person with the voice is good at acting.

I have seen Case Closed's version of the first Kaito Kid episode (in that dub, episodes, which is something I actually like about the dub). It was BARELY an improvement. According to Wikipedia, that episode never was on tv and is in fact, almost 30 episodes after the last episode shown on Adult Swim. I find it REALLY hard to believe that they dubbed 30 (or more) episodes ahead of the latest episode shown on Adult Swim before it was cancelled, so I can assume it was dubbed much more recently. And regardless, Funimation has always liked consistency in their dubs, regardless of quality (which I believe was the reason given for DBGT skipping alot of the earlier episodes at first).

Also, ironically, I like alot of dubs but don't like Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop.  :)

they dubbed way more then 30 episodes ahead since case closed went singles after it went off the air. I have the phantom thief first appearance episode and I think he has an excellent V.A. FYI they dubbed the second movie around 2004. they probably dubbed up to 130 or 156. the director of cowboy bebop has said that he prefers the dub of cowboy bebop compared to the Japanese dub. NGE's dub I didn't care for either, but I currently didn't hate it, since the V.A. did the lines perfectly. I just hate how no one makes any progress in NGE.

What I like to know is with todays tech. why do they need any English voices at all. Just use the Japanese versions and using voice synthesizer software make them speak English. It seem to me that the Japanese version of the characters are right on!

I'm starting to think that whoever is the most involved the Conan dub needs to be fired. NOW.
You got a clip of this voice actor using the "perfect" voice for Haibara?
As of now, her voicing anyone from DC seems like a stretch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDjmN5wl4K0

Watch 3:07 -3:23. I think with a little more emotion (and less blatant whispering too =P) it would be perfect (her role here had no emotion at all, but that was the point in this case). Of course, I haven't seen that much of the Black Cat dub...

...of course if the voice works but the acting doesn't, it would fit perfectly in the dub! :D
Well I'll admit I wasn't expecting much when you stated she had the "perfect" voice for Haibara but now I have to agree that this voice would be better for Haibara than the current voice(which isn't saying much). It is still far from "perfect" due to it being far too soft and I'm just assuming, but if she tries to add more emotion we probably end up with what we currently have..without the prissy overtones of course.

Am I the only one that pictures the above poster running away after he makes a comment due to his "Later" thing?
Actually above poster what is the point of saying "Later" in a discussion forum? (I'm not making fun of you, I'm actually curious for your reason behind this)

On Topic-

Until I hear a voiced gone through said process, all I can imagine that it will sound weird and somewhat robotic. I don't think a synthesizer would be able to capture the emotion a real human voice can deliver.

Synthesized voice quality has improved amazingly, however it's still difficult to get the right emotions across in this method. There may be a way to have an English VA speak and then modify the voice to match the pitch and sound of the Japanese actor, though.

Conan's voice was that of a grown man! It doesn't suit the voice for a child. I would definitely stick to the original!
That was Shinichi, not Conan.  Funi has Conan's thoughts use Shinichi's voice.
Yeah, they did the same thing in Animax. That's why I still prefer the original since the voice for Conan and his thoughts are the same. It's somehow confusing for people who just happen to watch DC for the first time.  :P
Well, the others' voices were still aweful.

lol Well she's not a *****, and if Haibara's annoying then she is the least annoying girl in DC (compared to Ayumi or even Ran). =D

It sounds more like here grown-up voice than her current state voice, such as used for her thoughts like Conan, just as GinRei stated.

Actually, I like Animax's english dub of Detective Conan. I also like the way they use Shinichi's voice to express Conan's thoughts. I think that style adds more "Shinichi presence" to the show.

P.S.: I haven't watched Funanimation's DC dub. Is it bad?

Animax dub is better than Funi.
Yeah, it adds to the Shinichi presence but confuses new viewers. I say this because this was asked to me while I was watching DC on Animax XD
Actually, I think I prefer any anime dubbed by Animax than that dubbed by Funi  ;D
Well that's just my opinion XDDD

Monica Rial, voices Lyra in FMA, could easily make her voice just a little higher for Haibara and use Lyra's voice for Shiho.

Works for Funi already, and oh it could be so perfect...  :'(

I've never heard the Animax dub, but I really want to hear it.
Where can I find it online? I don't want to download anything.
