[Book] Looking for a Detective Story

Hello everybody,

I am looking for a good "detective story" book.
There are so many books and most of them are not even worth to read them. So far I haven't bought a lot of books because, either the recommendation was bad or I didn't like the summary on the back of the book.

I am looking for something, similar to Detective Conan or Sherlock Holmes. That means, not to bloody, perhaps 1 murder and a good riddle, so that it becomes very hard to find out until the end who did it.
Sherlock Holmes is really outstanding and I wonder if there are stories like this nowadays?!

Eh, what kind of detective story?  There's plenty of areas of mystery fiction, but the main detective sub-genres are "hard-boiled" stories (which are dark, gory, and often sexual with a tough PI character) and "cozies" (which are more British-styled with little violence and a pretty off-beat, regular character doing the deductions).  From what it sounds, you seem to be looking for cozies.

I personally prefer any of Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe series, which is a blend of both sub-genres, though Wolfe can be a pretty insufferable, snobbish character without Archie's light-hearted, smart-aleck narration.

For more Holmes-esque cozies, Agatha Christie is a good place to start.  Her Miss Marple (Murder at the Viscarage, A Murder is Announced) stories are rarely too bloody, same goes for her Hercule Poirot (Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile) stories.

Jeffery Deaver is amazing, though he's a lot into the gadgets. The Lincoln Rhyme books are excellent. There is even a quote Shinichi/Heiji use in the last one called the burning wire. But you should probably start with The Bone Collector.

If you want a different route, with a romantic sort of edge, check out anything by Mary Higgins Clark.  Especially Weep No More, My Lady.

Thank you to all for the recommendations. I had no time the last few days but I will have a look to everything what was posted here. I think I don't know exactly before I read one. Afterwards I will let you know!

P.S.: If there is anything more I would like to know!
The thing is, I don't want anything to fictional, that means with aliens or something to unrealistic. I saw a post of "The Baker Street Phantom", but there are some reviews which say "Supernatural Mystery" and this is something I really don't looking for.
