File 678 - So, did Akai...

For those of you who have read file 678 already, what do you guys think about that supposed "Akai"?...
Did he lose his voice like Jodie said?, did he lose his memory? or is he just acting like that to not get into more trouble with the bank robbers?...
I'm still not 100% convinced that he is Akai... because the title of this file is "TRAP"... well, ho knows. we will see sooner or later.

That person is NOT likely to be the-real-Akai.

He didn't answer when Jodie threw questions at him, as well as kept silent the whole time.
It may be because:

1/ he can't imitate Akai's voice
(rule out the possibility that "Akai" = Vermouth, who can imitate anybody's voice)

2/ IF he's a "Akai look-alike", he should've answered: "No, I'm not Akai", but he didn't, which tells me that this person intentionally tries to play Akai.
In last chapter, he crossed the street right in front of Jodie's eyes, and sat next to Jodie when the robbers popped up.
A coincidence ?

3/ or maybe Akai's lost his memory which I hope won't be the case

He is definitely not Akai. He doesn't look like himself on the first two pages. His face seems to be different. And since Gosho's drawing-style isquite punctual, I'd say, he is NOT Akai for sure. It's the same with fake-Shinichi last time.

Ah, about look-a-likes, Jodie looked like Vermouth when she took of her wrapping from her eyes. o.O
And she is quite flexible to perform such trick as getting her arms to the front. Sugoi... a real, tough FBI agent. Except the eletrocution part. XD;

I think Akai had a scar across his face, probably thats why...

My initial theory was that it is a member of the BO set up to tactically, and effectively use psychological warfare on Jodie. If that was the case, all they need to do is make her doubt herself, send her into a state of being an emotional wreck, for this they only need a look-alike, he doesn't even need to speak. It seems to have worked as well, from what we have seen so far.

My second theory is that he is Akai. Either by planning or luck. There are people who have survived shots to the head. So it is not entirely impossible that that is the case, and if it was then Rena is in the clear. If it was a ruse and he is found out, people will be screwed.

If the former, it doesn't matter if he is found out, it will only once again strengthen the FBI, but likely Gin will order Rena to go after Akai again.

If the latter, both will be killed by Gin if found out.

There is another theory, but it is hardly mine, its really Jd's, so I shall refrain from stating it.

In any case, the next few files will be interesting.

Ok, so I just read file 679 and the robbery case has ended. Conan was about to be shot in the head by one of the robbers, but he was saved by one of the hostages inside. It seems to be Akai who saved Conan at first glance, but we all know Akai is left handed and he shot it with his right hand. I think we can be pretty sure that this Akai is NOT the real Akai...
what do you guys think?...

Well, I've seen it too...

It is too weird that (let's call him Akai-thing) Akai-thing used hi right hand to shoot, although most probably the BO is aware of his left-handedness. So why?

He is NOT Akai. He can use both hands well, but because of the tough situation, and because no one watched him except Conan, who couldn't make his face out, that Akai-thing used his best hand, the right one.

Also, we couldn't see Akai-thing's face either. And the supposed burn-mark wasn't visible as well. Maybe because Akai-thing wore a mask and when he ripped off the sticky paper from the eyes it torn his mask as well.

I stil can't tell who this guy is, whether it is Vermouth or Bourbon. Vermouth's bset hand seems to be the right one, but she can shoot with her left hand as well, and quite good (Halloween Party). And she has a reason to save Conan, her "Silver Bullet".

On the other hand, if he is Bourbon, then he became suspicious of Conan. Remember, Gin suspected Kogoro earlier for having some business with Sherry, s I think the great detective Bourbon investigated Mouri to some extent and knows about Conan's... existence. And now, seeing/hearing him reasoning and such, he might get a real clue.

The situation has gone a bit dangerous for Conan now, if that Akai-thing is Bourbon. And Jodie didn't tell a thing! I'm so angry at her. She just exposes Conan & Ai to danger. Because if Conan doesn' know about Akai- thing, he can't really prepare for him.

That is what I've sort of figured out of this file. I could be very wrong, but for me it is now 100% that he is not Akai at all.

So nice file overall. More suspicion and a big showndown is needed this winter and spring.

What I didn't like about Jodie was that she did not inform James about her seeing "Akai". I think telling him would have been the right thing to do right there. Well, I guess she knows what she's doing, but if that guy is Bourbon,Conan and Haibara are in BIG danger!!! I just hope the next files will be a continuation of this. I wouldn't want to see a detective boys case nor a mouri case. c'mon Gosho let's star the new year with some big excitement, don't let us all down!
This is all my speculation, but I think Aoyama is creating some stories that will lead up to the movie 13 coming up on April... maybe that guy who shot the robber is actually Bourbon... who knows... just hoping Gosho will come up with more interesting stuff in the next coming up files
