Kindaichi actually made mistakes and some were told to him quite explicitly.
Now for the actual review of the show:
It's much more gory and in ways disturbing compared to DC. The cases so far last for 3 episodes, which is similar to how DC do its detailed cases. But it's because of these things that Kindaichi has much more suspense than DC.
The plot is thin. It's based more on character than on the plot to drive the cases through, which is sometimes a drag to get through.
So, I like Kindaichi for the mystery (which the murderer/motive is sometimes unexpected), but I like DC for its wonderful plot (which is also unexpected).
