I forgot to comment on what I thought about the Chiba. I really liked them, mainly because it was with a girl that wasn't already in the series, although, pairing him up with Yumi would've been nice then we'd be done with all this romance stuff.  The childhood friend thing is a bit tiring and old, imo, but, as I mentioned, at least Chiba's was more interesting than the whole Kobayashi one.  That one was so boring.

Getting right down to it, romance wise, the only ones I've liked so far (not counting Heiji, Shinichi, or Kid's pairings) with the way it was set up, has been Takagi x Satou and Chiba and his old childhood friend.

I have to say the girl that Chiba loves is very cute compared to him^^well even minor caracter needs love...
BUT it was again a childhood love and this is very annoying and boring for me... I think Gosho should change that rule even if he likes that kind of pairings...that's my opinion

But I wonder, does Chiba actually like her?  I'm under the impression that he didn't think much of her until she contacted him asking if he ever got her video message.  To me the whole "childhood love" thing is being set up way differently than the others.  I never got the impression that Chiba was crushing on her as a kid or had thoughts about her as the years went by, not like the other characters.  That's why, imo, I feel that his "childhood love" case is being handled the best so far and isn't as boring as the rest of them.

He confessed to her when they were kids, he just couldn't find her answer.  She called him up and mentioned it, so he started trying to find it again.  It's not like he's been longing for her all these years, but he did like her and he doesn't have any current crushes, so he wanted to give it another shot.

If he still remembers her after all these years, there must have been some chemistry between them. So something might happen if they reapproach the relationship as adults, but no guarantees, obviously.

haha i just read the files VHS of Memories yesterday, and i really thought Chiba's love would be Yumi D: 
well, Naeko is cute also!
she and Yumi look alike ^^
