Question on Vermouth and APTX4869

Post by kirstn »

As we all know, Vermouth seems to have drunk APTX4869 and became young like Conan and Ai.
I would like to discuss this topic from the point of other members in the BO.

From Jodie's recollection scene where her dad was murdered by Vermouth, we could say that Vermouth has been working for the BO at least for more than 20 years since Jodie seems to have aged at least by 20 years.
Usually, one would think that  a person's appearance will change in 20 years.

And I 'm wondering how other BO members like Gin think about Vermouth's seemingly de-aged figure.
Although we don't know when she drank APTX4869, isn't it natural to notice if she went young or stopped aging?
However, Gin and others in the BO don't seem to be aware of the secret of APTX[de-aging effect] or Vermouth's aging mystery.

What does this mean?
Could it be that Gin and others see Sharon and Chris as defferent characters while the two are supposed to be the same person?

We don't even known if she took the drug... Why would she take it, as it was in it's undeveloped version at that time? I like the theory that the drug is somewhat based on her ability to stay looking young…
Or as an actress with lot’s of money she went through so many surgeries, that she’s still looking fresh young ;D

What Terra said above about Vermouth not taking APTX.

Haven't talked about is not the same as not aware of. I'll guess anyone that has been in the Organization for a considerable period could have observed Vermouth's aging weirdness. Gin's age and time in the Org are unknown, but as an executive agent (like Pisco), he is most likely privy to the intended purpose of the research which APTX4869 came from and some of the story behind the research- which Vermouth probably has some part in. So, Gin probably knows about Vermouth's aging issue, but he doesn't have to know the full story. He already knows Sharon = Chris since he talked about the Vermouth-disguising-to-lure-out-Akai-in-NY incident.

Vermouth is a master of disguise, right? Maybe she just uses her really good make up skills to hide all signs of aging.

Considering the drug kills most of those who take it. It's unlikely Vermouth "drank" 2 capsules unless she was suicidal.  :P

Maybe after  seeing that Shinichi did not die, she drank it? ...just a thought.

Impossible, she was already Chris in the Pisco Arc before even knowing about Ai and Conan. Besides, she's also probably aware that most people who actually took the drug ended up dead and I don't think she'd just play the odds.

It may be possible if vermouth tailed shinichi right after he shrunk.

Nah, if Vermouth took the APTX, it would have to be slightly later than one year ago when she switched from her Sharon to Chris disguise. That would be sometime before Shinichi shrank. Also, Vodka implied Vermouth was in America until recently.
Sharon might not be Vermouth's first disguise. She might be Sharon's mother who died in a fire on the day of Sharon's debut. In that case, Vermouth would be older than Atsushi and Elena Miyano's research so APTX couldn't account for her aging issue.
There is probably something else out there in the DC world that causes aging wonkiness. It probably isn't magical crying jewel Pandora as the supernatural stuff in Magic Kaito's is not canon to DC (and the Orgs are not the same), but maybe Vermouth got in a scientific accident once, and the Org has been trying to recreate the formula ever since?

When Vermouth lured out Akai disguised as a serial killer, I think it could be both as Sharon and Chris.
Gin could have considered it as Chris's work.

There are some wrinkles noticeable in Sharon's face.   And that makes Sharon a different figure from Chris and Vermouth.  They are distinguished from each other by Gosyo Aoyama's description.
If Gin and others consider Sharon and Chris as the same person, it also means that they think Vermouth is/was playing two different characters in her offficial life.  Unlike Gin and Vodka, Vermouth has her official life.
So do they think that Vermouth disguses to put some wrinkles on her face and takes trouble to play two different actors, which is kind of risky since she has to avoid a situation where the two appears at the same time?  She could just stop being Sharon, fake her death and become Chris.
I think this is implying that Gin and others see Sharon and Chris as different characters, or Vermouth is trying to hide her aging secret from other BO members and plays/ed two roles in the Organization as Sharon and Chris.

Well, Sharon is dead, so Vermouth can focus on being one person ;) It's kind of interesting, to speculate, if Sharon is the disguised form of her, or if Chris is. We don't know which face is the real one.

*agrees with Chekov* We also don't know how long, for instance, Gin is in the Organization. For all we know, Gin might have been there for 5 years only (or at least I don't remember if it was mentioned in the manga) and thus he only knows how Vermouth is looking now and knows “Sharonâ€

Chris Vineyard really did play at least two roles in her official life: Sharon and Chris; however she did them in such a way to minimize overlap. While Sharon Vineyard was around, Chris vineyard hadn't made a public appearance outside of movies and and interviews. It was only after Sharon Vineyard "died" less than one year before the present timeline that Chris Vineyard came out into the public light. Vermouth did this on purpose to minimize overlapping appearances since she had both roles to play. I am pretty sure the other members of the Org know she did this switch because Vermouth doesn't seem to hide her "real life identity" (Aka Sharon or Chris) from interactions with the Organization. You can read more about Vermouth being Chris and Sharon here if you like. There is also a timeline of Vermouth and !Araide's appearances if you want to read the manga for references. Note the corrections below.
