If you could live in any other country (two scenarios)
The idea of this is simple: if you had to live in another country, what would it? There are two variations on it though.
The first variation assumes you could magically learn the language of the country. Instantly, you would be able to speak the language fluently/write at a high school level. What country would you choose given that?
The second variation assumes you know nothing about that country's language and have to learn it from scratch (even if you do know it in reality).
What would you choose in each case?

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

Italy or Japan either way. I'm torn between the two.

Japan if I don't need to worry about learning the language
England if I did have to worry about learning it

If I could learn the language, there's a few choices. Either:
1) Japan - Because it's so crazy over there. I'd probably have all the crazy I could handle pretty quickly though, because it's so crazy.
2) Germany - When I think of European countries that speak a language other than English, the first things that come to mind are Spain, France, and Germany. Spain has never much interested me and I have something against living in France, so that would leave Germany. It's also more central-europe than the others, so if I ever found myself wanting to travel to the other various tinier countries in Europe, it wouldn't be as far. It's also the one of the three with the supposedly fastest average internet speed. This also has the benefit of letting me magically learn German, the language I always wanted to learn, but didn't because I already knew a little Spanish so it was an easier class. :V
3) Italy - I feel like I should give this guy a mention because of the previous two posters, but sorta like Spain, Italy's never struck me quite as a place I wanted to live. Take a trip, maybe.
If I couldn't learn the language, then the choices are:
1) Canada - Canadialol
2) United Kingdom - The UK's pretty decent and it's the only place out of America I've *actually* been. Scotland is also pretty scenic in places and it's good to be able to drive from one side of the country to the other in a day. I could probably find a ruined castle somewhere and claim it as my own (until somebody finds me and kick me out). The only thing I have against them is the side of the road that they drive on, which would be weird. But, oh well.
so, my answers would come down to probably germany/UK for actual living, japan/UK if I wanted to be crazy.

case 1: France. I've been in love with it ever since I went there the first time. Although I know very little of the language. (Japan was a close second, but I think the culture shock might be a little bit too much for me)
case 2: Australia. I know it's hot, but come on! I hear people are great and that the country's beautiful. The drinking thing might be a problem, though

after looking at your profile to see why you would say such a thing, I will reiterate:Sebolains wrote:Go Canadia!!Akonyl wrote: If I could learn the language, there's a few choices. Either:
