You should also put Portuguese(Brazilian).
Everyone thinks is the same thing but is not.
Like they write detective like this: "Detetive".

Another example:

English: "How are you?"
Brazilian: "Como é que está você?"
Portuguese: "Como é que estás?"

Is different.

Abs. is Filipino? :o

Filipino = more formal, used in schools, offices, etc.
Tagalog = less formal, used in the streets, in homes, etc.

At least that's what I'm told. There are no grammar/spelling differences anyway.  ::)
No amount of apologies will express how much I regret it.

Yeah, I'm going by the "official languages" of countries, rather than what they're derived from, even if there aren't many differences.

Several thousand, if I want to do every language in the world!

+Javanese and Sundanese if so. I did phrase that rather poorly, what I meant was that I was going with the "official language" rather than an identical dialect that was unofficial. Cantonese and Mandarin are much, much more different than Filipino and Tagalog (as posters above have noted, Filipino and Tagalog are just about the same thing).

But Tagalog is the dialect that contributes the most to Filipino, correct?
