I like both. A lot.
In the end... I'll choose Moonlight Sonata for the nostalgia.
...Also, the drawn quality of Moonlight > Murderer!Shinichi.

Yeah, I do like most of the old cases over the newer ones, don't know why, the new cases seem to lack something to me.

There are a variety of factors at work. First, most of us watched the older episodes when we were younger. As such, we were less likely to pick out inconsistencies/identify tropes than we are now (I'm aware that doesn't apply for everyone, but I think it does for most people). The second biggest issue the new cases have, imo, is a lack of 'oomph'. The best of the older cases often have shocking/grotesque moments, almost reminiscent of horror movies movies while recent episodes (even those that are ostensibly "suspenseful" don't) pack as much of a punch. The most important problem, though, is that there is a finite number of cool/interesting cases that can be created in the DC universe. As time goes on, plots are recycled and the new ideas that are used become steadily lower in quality.randompi314159 wrote: Yeah, I do like most of the old cases over the newer ones, don't know why, the new cases seem to lack something to me.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

Moonlight Sonata, hands down! The Shiragami case was just frustrating to me. And I'm a ShinRan AND Heiji fan

Sato Keiji?
And what the F--- is the name of the fake Kudo? Can't remember, well i remember everything about Moonlight.
Moonlight>Murderer, Kudo Shinichi.
I only gave Murderer, Kudo Shinichi a chance because it's newer but still

Now look at the poll count xDYamamura wrote: Is Moonlight Sonata really that highly regarded? I figured it would take something more than a regular good episode to really fight off a Shinichi episode.

Furthermore the old sountrack gave an emotional dimension to the episodes which is no longer present in the current episodes.dilbertschalter wrote:There are a variety of factors at work. While on the subject though, the music that plays as 523 ends is one of my favorite "newer" tunes.Wakarimashita wrote: Furthermore the old sountrack gave an emotional dimension to the episodes which is no longer present in the current episodes.

I'm going to toss a vote to 521-23. Despite the inferior animation, I really enjoyed watching it, especially the Shinichi reveal scene.
I love Moonlight Sonata, though, so I won't be mad when if it wins.

That piece of background music isn't all that new. I'm fairly sure that it plays during the fountain up part of movie 4's climax and I remember it coming up somewhere else.Yamamura wrote:While on the subject though, the music that plays as 523 ends is one of my favorite "newer" tunes.Wakarimashita wrote: Furthermore the old sountrack gave an emotional dimension to the episodes which is no longer present in the current episodes.
