I'm sure that they will have some way to make it a canon story and connect it to the main plot.

Re: The End... Of DC?
In the event BOTH Haibara and Ran die, Shinichi coming out of it mildly depressed is an understatement. We would be lucky if Shinichi ONLY resorts to becoming an alcoholic that stays in his father's library all day just reading books and cuts his ties with the outside world compared to the other worse options he could choose in that situation.DarkWolfYoukai wrote: I feel like a lot of character have to die for DC to end well. I mean, they're going up against a huge, seemingly unbeatable organization. If I were Gosho, I'd probably kill off at least half of the major characters before the BO falls. Despite being a ShinichixRan shipper, Ran would be included in the death list because of the emotions her death would provoke. Realistically speaking, Haibara would have a good chance of dying just because she's still a target for the BO, and they would go for her first if they recognized her as an 8-year-old Sherry. Those two would be the most notable deaths and would probably leave Shinichi mildly depressed. As you can see, I feel that there can't be a completely happy ending for me to be satisfied.
As for the killing of half the cast, I never been a fan of pointless killing or the cliche deaths of "We have to sacrifece ourselves to save/buy time for the Main character". I don't see a point of killing half the main cast unless its one of those two mentioned and neither fits well with the Detective Conan series. As you have to keep in mind that the FBI & CIA is around, so when Conan is ready to make his move, he'll likely ask for witness protection for his friends or trick them into going into a safe place like he did with Ran(making her stay at Agasa's with the pretext of testing a game for him).
A cliche scenario I would like to see is a final confrontation between Gin an Shinichi were Shinichi believes to have the upper hand only to get shot but before the bullet hits Mouri Damn Kogoro jumps infront, takes the bullet and proceeds to judo Gin into submission

And I would actually watch that episodeTheBlind wrote: A cliche scenario I would like to see is a final confrontation between Gin an Shinichi were Shinichi believes to have the upper hand only to get shot but before the bullet hits Mouri Damn Kogoro jumps infront, takes the bullet and proceeds to judo Gin into submission. Then of course he tells Shinichi he knew from the start he was Conan and allowed him to use him as a puppet all this time for the sake of his daughter but to NEVER do it again and he walks into the sunset Samurai style.

Yep it would be so awesome. Maybe they should create an OVA similar to OVA 1 where wacky stuff happened but base it on Mouri. Make him go around solving cases easily, picking up the ladies, and using judo on his enemies. Of course it would end with him waking up...but it would be a hilarious 30 minutes

Well, OVA 1 was just Gosho goofin around off Magic Kaito, and Yomiuri mixed Conan for fun. Other scenes in DC were from MK as well.TheBlind wrote: Yep it would be so awesome. Speaking of which, how do you think will Kid be in the ending?

If the final episode is indeed the taking down of the BO, it's a hard call. At this point in the series, it's too hard to imagine how the downfall of the BO will unfold let-alone if Kid will have a part in it. But if Kid is in it, I expect something along the lines of Movie 10, where

I feel that DC is a more of a kiddy series. Most of the people who die are not necessary in the continuation of the plot. I think Gosho will make DC a happy ending, but as always, unpredictable in what we perceive as the norms of the series.

Well, in an interview on October 2007, Gosho said that the end was already planned and promised to not let down all the DC fans... So, I'll trust him
He also said that the end of the manga is closer than the end of the anime, but that is expected since the manga is quite far ahead than the anime...

Well it would be obvious for everyone to know that the manga will end first since it was made before the anime, and the anime version is a direct adaptation of the manga.Thief1412 wrote: Well, in an interview on October 2007, Gosho said that the end was already planned and promised to not let down all the DC fans... It would also be obvious that there won't be any "hints" or plot development that matters in one of the movies as well.jason wrote:Well it would be obvious for everyone to know that the manga will end first since it was made before the anime, and the anime version is a direct adaptation of the manga.Thief1412 wrote: Well, in an interview on October 2007, Gosho said that the end was already planned and promised to not let down all the DC fans... Yeah, I think so too since the movies don't follow the serie...kkslider5552000 wrote:It would also be obvious that there won't be any "hints" or plot development that matters in one of the movies as well.jason wrote:Well it would be obvious for everyone to know that the manga will end first since it was made before the anime, and the anime version is a direct adaptation of the manga.Thief1412 wrote: Well, in an interview on October 2007, Gosho said that the end was already planned and promised to not let down all the DC fans... But there are rumours out there on the internet (which I don't know if I should even take into account for they lack of proof, that's why they are only rumours
But then, it's obvious that the manga won't end next year. So we can rest assure that those rumours are false...
