The End... Of DC?
My good friend Mr. Hastings brought a similar point up...
Many of us want to see the end of Detective Conan: We may not want it now but we wonder how Conan will go back if he goes at all...
And my recent comments regarding the writing of Detective Conan...
Can Detective Conan end at all? The ideal that we know of Detective Conan revolves around the plot of finding the BO, Exterminating the BO, being a chibi-Tantei, keeping his secret... etc etc...
What would happen when Conan finds the Cure? Gin, Vodka and the lot are dead or imprisoned? Do we actually want Detective Conan to end? CAN it even end?
I mean what does keep us motivated? Is it reading the Detective Conan chapters that come out every week or so? Is it the secret plotting that eats us inside of the climax? Detective Conan ending would be a joy to everyone but... What is there to look forward to after its gone?

Re: The End... Of DC?
I think the end of the Black Org. plot will also be a fairly conclusive ending (happy or sad) for Conan's other important goals (recovering his normal body, engaging Ran, being a detective). Otherwise Aoyama could have had Conan fighting the Kaito Kid Grey Org. or the Pink Org. by now, justifying his need to stay undercover as Conan to prevent the powerful and unethical (like the new Org. he'd be fighting) from turning him into a lab specimen to pursue their own immortality/youth restoration goals, until Haibara perfects a cure (which could take until Aoyama dies if Aoyama wanted it that way).
I will be sad to see it end, especially if it's, as I suspect, not going to be a particularly happy ending. On the other hand, I'd rather see it end before Aoyama is forced to change too much to keep the stories and characters relevant to contemporary events and mores in Japan, or flail about looking for gimmicks to maintain popularity rather than simply bring things to a natural end.

Re: The End... Of DC?
I'm 19 and I've been a Conan fan since I was like 9 (or 8 maybe), and during these last years I've been watching/reading Conan literally everyday, I don't know what will I do when it ends. I know this sounds immature but DC is the only anime/manga I know, all the others are just rubbish to me (sorry). Because of DC I've learned a lot, and this years I've started learning Japanese and it's awesome! So NO I don't want DC to end, life will become boring! Unless I find out that I'm gonna die then yes I'd want to know the ending.

Re: The End... Of DC?
I feel like a lot of character have to die for DC to end well. I mean, they're going up against a huge, seemingly unbeatable organization. If I were Gosho, I'd probably kill off at least half of the major characters before the BO falls. Despite being a ShinichixRan shipper, Ran would be included in the death list because of the emotions her death would provoke. Realistically speaking, Haibara would have a good chance of dying just because she's still a target for the BO, and they would go for her first if they recognized her as an 8-year-old Sherry. Those two would be the most notable deaths and would probably leave Shinichi mildly depressed. As you can see, I feel that there can't be a completely happy ending for me to be satisfied.

What surprises me most is how in the world do the makers of detective conan come up with the incredibly logical cases for so many volumes, they ought to run out of ideas someday and then the end of detective conan would come to be a reality.

I feel that the ending is getting nearer. . . By nearer, I mean that it might take 5-6 years again. lol.
Maybe movie 13 will going to sum up all the stories into a forced conclusion or something ?

If you haven't noticed it yet, Aoyama-sensei has made the plot slow... and when i say slow... I mean SLOW.
Also, as there are many ways to skin a cat, there is also an infinite number of ways to commit a crime.

Re: The End... Of DC?
Although I hate to state the possibility, but there is a change Gosho never finishes DC. For example a early/unexpected death. That would really suck... I believe the main point of interest (for me at least) is the aspect of mystery. The mystery in every case, not just the mystery of B.O cases. Although what makes conan different from other mystery anime/tv-series/movies/etc, is that DC is unique in the fact it has stayed a good show. Many other mystery shows turn bland or start repeating themselves with sometimes even more ridiculus storylines than how realistic Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann mecha's were (Don't get me wrong though, I loved TTGL
).

Re: The End... Of DC?
I think DC is about 3/5 done.
When Conan finally admits that he is really Shinichi to Ran (most likely while he is still Cona) than either we can prepare for the last...anywhere from 25-150 episodes of DC or we can prepare for the show to officially jump the shark (and it's truly amazing that it hasn't done that yet).

Re: The End... Of DC?
I've mentioned before that with everything I've seen so far, I predicted that the EndGame will come within a couple of years. Although Detective Conan: Jet Black Chaser won't be the final conclusion to the series, but I suspect that we'll get some more clues/information about the Organization and a few things for the main plot from it. This could also hint that the series will end soon, but give it at least 2 years.
