I chose the "modern" era, but it's a bit of a cheat, since a lot of my favorite early 20th-century composers still wrote in basically the Romantic style, and even a lot of the ones from later in the century are Neo-Romantics.

That's also the same for me regarding the modern era. For my recital in classic music, I chose a piece of Ernest Bloch, which didn't sound all that "modern"

I'm a big fan of Bach's cantatas. I get enough of Vivaldi pretty quick, though (unless it's the Gloria, which I do like).
