14th Target hits the mark, it's more like DC where as Phantom tries to be different but fails to acutally make that something compelling.

14th Target has a simple premise and lots of fun, Phantom has lots of build up, pointless scenes, and overall fails to bring fans what they wanted in "Conan goes to Old London" which is THE "REALISH" HOLMES WORKING TOGETHER WITH CONAN. What we got was a couple of seconds of his dad dressed in the cliche holmes outfit. Sure the scenery was pretty good, and we got other Sherlock Holmes characters, but come on. What the hell? The Sherlock Holmes Level was capture Jack the Ripper, which is okay I guess (It ended up being Conan just walking places and picking Jack out of a crowd, where everyone could guess it would be the woman, becasue it's always the woman).

Much like Lupin meets Conan, they totally forgot that fans want the obvious, The two characters doing what they do best together. Be it Lupin acting in Kids place as the cool criminal being chased, or Sherlock Holmes acting in Heji's place as the partner detective. What we got was a sob story about a child that jumped off a building, which was more ruined by them showing everything, even the bloody murders were just shown with no mystery. The only reveal was the tacked on blood relation which had been done in a much better movie.

14th Target was great becasue it cut to the chase for the most part, a bunch of people connected to Kogoro were being targeted based on a name. It felt like a movie, had fun action, helicopter crashes, murder, and MYSTERY. Okay, the villain was kinda lame, but everything else stood out. Phantom gets props for trying something new, but doing something new doesn't mean they did it right.

Sorry for the rant and don't take offense if you voted for Phantom, we all have our views on things, Even if it may be my one of my least favorite movies. It was still enjoyable to watch once, but that's the thing. I'd sit through 14th Target twice, third time, and maybe more. But Phantom would be boring to me to watch again, which seals my reasoning.

May be it's weird, but I thought it was romantic, that Eri and Ran were shot by the people they love in order to be saved, that scene when Conan was aiming towards Ran was so intense and full with emotions.
Every time I want to give up on DC, it manages to bring me back, it brings me back feelings I know that I will never ever feel or live again.
