I recognize my lack of driving skills and therefore I don't drive if I'm not forced to.nomemory wrote:I'm happy I don't live where you live, no offence intendedmeidei wrote: And that's what I'm doing most of the time![]()

24-hour. The discussion by Akonyl and meidei a few posts prior was very interesting to read, if I may say.
No amount of apologies will express how much I regret it.

Re: 12h VS 24h time notation
I prefer the 12-hour notation to save...well, time. If I use the 24-hour notation, I'd have to think for a while and calculate its equivalent in 12-hour format, even if it only means subtracting the hour by 12. Still, I'm cool with a 24-hour notation.

I prefer 24h, though I don't have any problems with 12h.

True. If you live in a 12h country, you have to convert to 12h when interacting with others. I don't have to do any mental mathematics for internal use though. The Mask wrote: I prefer the 12-hour notation to save...well, time. Re: 12h VS 24h time notation
Well, I use 24-h, but seldom 12-h. See below.
Also, in my country, the situation is a little bit complicated. The easy thing is: as long as it's written, it's the 24-h system. However, if it#s about conversations, things get interesting. While some people already say "Sechzehn Uhr Dreiundzwanzig" ("Sixteen Clock Twentythree"), "Vier Uhr Dreiundzwanzig" ("Four Clock 23") is still common as well. However, German has no "AM" or "PM", so if you want to use 12-h system and make yourself clear at the same time, you need to specify: "Vier Uhr Nachmittag" ("Four Clock Afternoon").
However, when time is expressed in certain ways, like "Viertel vor/nach" ("Quarter before/after"), "Dreiviertel" ("Threequarters") (which is hilariously used in two different meanings, so "Dreiviertel 4" can mean both 15:15 and 15:45) and especially "Halb" ("Half", but "Halb Drei" ("Half Three") is 14:30), you can only use the 24h system, "Halb Dreiundzwanzig" ("Half Twentythree") is impossible. Therefore, if I use one of them, I do use the 12-h system.
