Lol speaking of crazy disguises, think: mermaid case (OMGBBQ).
Hey, I have an idea, let's have a THIS SUCKS / NO THIS SUCKS / NO YOU / NO YOU argument for a couple pages, that will really be great. - Ingmar

Speaking of that, He is the only person that ever succeeded in committing suicide right in front of conan. Remember the numerous others that ever tried to was stopped and then lectured about justice is diff from murder, yadda yadda yadda. I also think conan invented that speech just after the moonlight sonata case because there were indications that the failure to save that culprit bothered him.

very nice topic man for me :
1-the moonligth sonate
2-Man In Bandages at Mountain Villa

these two was the best case in the manga and the anime  Gosho Aoyama made conan stay in my soul forevery.

Gosho kind of cheated us, violating a few golden rules of detective fiction, with the Moonlight Sonata case. If you were some machine, you could have figured some of it out, but definitely not all. I remember someone on IRC once saying something like, "And I thought he was hot as a girl..."

Cheated!

I'd go with Shinichi's first case too and the "Sengoku" case in 59. I didn't even think that that person & co. were behind all those things! O.O Truly a great case...

I think in the episode 10. When Heiji first came to battle with Sinichi.
Because the culprit murdered in front of detective. Even Heiji also didn't realize it.

That was certainly an unexpected m.o. but I thought it was pretty clear the wife was the killer, I just figured she used a somewhat different locked room trick than the one Heiji accused the uncle(?) of using.

Definitely Moonlight Sonata. I had a hunch that she was it but didn't know that she was a guy.

The most unexpected culprit case would be the Mermaid Case, the case with the bunch of detectives(episode 219), and the Yoko Okino case. I never thought that an old person could commit murder(well, oldish), same thing for 219 but adding that dead people don't kill, and Suicide NEVER occurs as a solution to a Conan case.

I can't really say that the Moonlight Sonata case was unexpected because it was the very first episode of DC I have ever watched. Still, the twists and shocks from that case made me the Conan fan I am today.

For me, I'm not sure, but it was probably the doctor that treated Ran's amnesia in the fourth movie.
all of them. almost all the time, gosho picks the most unexpected person to be the culprit.
that's what makes it exciting ^^
