Now, though, I have two German Shepherds.  And three cats.  And two lizards.  And a hamster.  And two birds.  And some fish.  Actually, none of them are technically mine.  They belong to either my entire family or a specific member, just not me in particular.

My family has never been "pet-friendly", my parents used to have pets when they were growing up, but I guess taking care of 2 boys was just too much for them and didn't want the extra hassle.

I like dogs though I'll get one for myself sometime 4-5 years from now

Do my Nintendogs and Pokemon count?

I used to have a goldfish, imaginatively named Goldie (hey, I won her at a fair, okay? I didn't expect her to live a week, let alone five years...). She died when I was in primary school.

We also used to have a dog called Suki who was part carpet and only ever woke up to the sound of the biscuit tin opening. Even when we got a plastic box that opened silently. She was put down two years ago, after she got doggy Alzheimer's and couldn't recognize any of us. She just sat in the bathroom and shivered in fear all the time. When she couldnt' even recognize biscuits as food, we knew it was the end.

We're all too busy to pick up and break in a new pet, so at the moment, all I have are Nintendogs and Pokemon.
