This is the first installment of the DC movie contest. The basic idea is the same as the OP and ED contests; vote for your favorite out of the two listed choices and say something reasonable sounding about your choice in the comments. In cases of a tie, the movie that had the higher box office gross will advance. I'm just going to post the pics, if you haven't seen one of them and want to just go to http://forums.dctp.ws/viewtopic.php?p=10306#p10306.
Here are this week's contestants:
Movie 4: Captured in Her Eyes
Movie 13: The Raven Chaser
Also, the current bracket:
Do tell if something about it doesn't make sense.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."
My thoughts:
Captured in Her Eyes: The mystery is good and it takes up the whole story, which is a nice contrast to the "mystery+extremely vaguely related action" formula that more recent DC movies employed, although watching the Tropical Land scene makes you realize why they changed things: they spent a good 10-15 minutes simply running around an amusement park; apparently the writers went on a break around 1:20 and never came back. Has one of the first AixConan scenes, which is a bonus.
The Raven Chaser: I didn't like it much. It wasn't a giant shitfest like 7/10/11, but it wasn't all that much better. Things unfolded in a predictable way and the mystery was mediocre. That being said, the opening dream scene is good enough for me to not dislike it that much. It's one of those things where you can watch it as many times over as you want and it will be scary each time.

Yeah, the Ai Conan scene was pretty good, and that's coming from a ShinRan fan. The scene at Tropical Land was a bit stretched out, though I did enjoy the dialogue. Movie 13 was okay, the opening dream scene was pretty intense. But the only other scene that I kinda liked, and it was just for the action, was the helicopter scene at the end. It was pretty predictable at the end, and kinda unrealistic (seeing how no one noticed a helicopter shooting), but the graphics and action was awesome.
The Raven Chaser.....the BO is closer to the BO in DC manga/anime alot more than Movie 5....
The -Main Theme- Medley fits alot with the animation............story and voice actors.......
Satou/Takagi cuteness: Does this dress look good on me? (Of course it does Miwa-chan!)
Takagi is easy to manipulate: Very nice bullying scene by Conan and Kogoro. Just shows you how easy it is to chump Takagi into doing what you want. I LMFAO every time I watch this scene. AND HOW CAN I NOT LOVE TAKAGI PRACTICALLY ADMITTING HE LOVES HER! <3
Satou gets shot: Great job protecting Ran Satou-keiji! Err, physically. But besides her badass-ness, she gets shot!!!
Awsome police involved backstory: Miwako tried to save her fellow inspector because she is awsome.
Takagi/Satou hinting: Takagi freaking holds her unconscious body after she's been shot *fangirl squee* and he's all like HOLD ON!!! :3
Takagi angst: Thinking about Satou-san because he is worried about her. (yeah he kinda screws up big but hey.)
Miwako love: Miwako is fine. Scene of all the obsessed police officers balling their eyes out. Including Takagi. That's right! You need more than several bullets (one close to heart) to take down a badass like Satou-keiji! <3
I do have to agree that Captured in Her Eyes is the better movie, The Raven Chaser was alright, but I somewhat found the BO involvement more forced than in Countdown to Heaven, where the BO's motives were themselves a mystery, in The Raven Chaser the BO is a bit too in your face when they appear, and I found the helicopter thing to be a bit too much, it was a nice action scene, but wasn't really something you'd expect of a secret organization. Also Satou's involvement in the Raven Chaser is much worse, she does start getting suspicious, but they never go anywhere with it, and it's forgotten since it's just a movie.
But in Captured in Her Eyes, She's a very pivotal character in triggering the main problem with Ran by getting shot. While the Park scene was a bit too drawn out, it was still better than your usual "Something is destroyed" ending.

Raven Chaser, definitely. Couldn't take my eyes off the screen, whereas Captured in Her Eyes lost me about a third of the way through.
Superman = Captain America > Aquaman = Hal Jordan > Wonder Woman > Barry Allen > Thor > Martian Manhunter > The Hulk > Wasp > Hawkeye > [power gap] > Iron Man = Batman > [power gap] > Hank Pym
