I'll just post the site here... I posted the link in Beastly's thread Best Case 1-99 or something like that and I wasn't infracted so I'm assuming it's alright to post download links...

I started downloading the 1st few episodes of You're under arrest and Genshiken for trial purposes but it appears I'll go all the way based on what I read on wiki about the plot and the characters...

I´ll recommend Calymore for anyone interested in new anime. Search for wikipedia for more info, it´s really, really good.

The anime only lasts 26 (I think) episodes, and from epsidoes 19 - 20 it changes completely from the manga.

The manga is still ongoing and there is 1 file per month, but it´s really worth reading and watching.

that is one of some anime title that i really hate because the diferential adaptation from the manga.....

the manga is awesome but the anime... huh.... (my personal opinion only)

There was only 1 link for that on that site and I downloaded that one... I'll dig deeper once I find the series is good... I also download on other anime sites but currently I've been downloading there on the animestash mainly because most links aren't megaupload which is banned in our office...

Record of Lodoss War...... fits almost all of the above. based on a D&D type campaign so it is very very fantasy and RPG-ish, the story is serious but it does have some humor, no singing really but there is a priest who chants (buffs) in battle and a bard/thief. there is one really buff dude but its only sometimes and he is possessed by the "spirit of hate".

There is an OAV series that came first (with the last half a made up ending) and a TV series that picks up where the OAV diverged (think like what FMA is doing) not to say the ending of the OAV was bad though is was really good.

although it is older the OAV was made in 1990 and the TV series was made in 1998

also to a lesser extent Negima (if your willing to read manga doesnt fit 8 though)

Slayers and its sequels fits the first seven.

It hasn't ended but from what I've heard the next season should be the last (whenever they actually announce it)

Not in my case... It was fair enough for me... Although I did have a hard time getting into it but nonetheless I was able to finish the series without dropping the series...

And it doesn't has the singing / Fantasy element in it.
