Random Poll of the Day! (746)

Dunno whether "priority seat" is a common expression or just a UK thing, but I needed an explanation, so here it is:
For me......I can't really vote in this poll. In most of my buss rides there's either always a place for someone, or there's no place at all (even for standing, since a bunch of others already stand). It's also rare that I see handicapped or disabled people on a buss (the public transportation in Israel is really crappy and isn't even suitable for handicapped people. On trains I usually stand to begin with and only sit after I see no one else wants to sit.
In theory, though, I vote for option 4. I don't see myself as being the first person to offer someone a seat.

I usually don't need to move, but I move when I do.

I was raised to be the first one to offer, and generally still do that.

Hm, picked the 'really tired' option.
However, I'd say usually I do, but either someone else is faster or the person doesn't want to sit after all.

I think you can apply the term of priority seat in any waiting area where there are limited seats as well as public transport. It might be an airport for example, or a clinic, a train station or even a shop!
This poll idea came to me when I was in Argos the other day, waiting for my order while two ladies who look around my age with no apparent reason sitting on two of the three available seats, ignoring my big bump. While there was an old lady on the remaining seat.

^ this. Although I am in a priority seat position at the moment, I do tend to offer my seat if I see someone needs it more than me. Most of the time I avoid the front seats in the bus, so those who need it can find it available and I do not have to get up.
Also, I ask my children to stand if there are no other available seats for those who need it.

Yeah I usually offer people my seat if it looks like they need it. Though I don't usually see handicapped people around, I do see a lot of older people. Problem is, I always wonder if I'm kind of offending someone by implying they look old

I always offer my seat unless someone does it before me, not because I am waiting or anything more that I am rather slow at reacting also that I usually sit quite far back. And this is even if I am feeling rather bad myself. Though I am a bit more careful when it comes to elders, some get really mad at you D: And I guess with not obviously pregnant too

But usually this gets solved if you get eye contact with the person.

Voted tired.
The option: "I need the priority seat myself sometimes" is missing :x
But usually, there are either enough seats around or it's so full that I didn't get a seat. But if I see someone that needs it, I offer my own seat.

If I'm sitting on a designated priority seat myself, and there are no other free seats, yes.
If I'm sitting on a designated priority seat myself, and there are other free seats, I usually don't (hey, there are free seats!).
If I'm not sitting on a designated priority seat myself, and there are no other free seats, only if the designated priority seats are already occupied by those who need them. Else, it's the task of the ones sitting on the designated seats

If I'm not sitting on a designated priority seat myself, and there are other free seats, no.
Obviously, if they ask me, they'll get the seat in all but the strangest situations (like when the seat next to me is empty... :x).
