It couldn't have been one of us, since the poster still calls Kogorou Ran's uncle.

Hasn't this story circulated this site already? I've seen it somewhere.

I've seen it before too. Can't remember if it was linked from here or somewhere else though.

That's actually hilarious. :-X

But the person actually called Kogoro both Ran's father and uncle.  One right after the other.

I'm more irked by the fact the article is giving kudos to "otaku girls", rather than just people who know what they're talking about.  It completely overlooks the fact that the employees don't know a damned thing about what they're pushing, and a fan does, and focuses only on their genders.  And those last lines of "Chicks know anime?  Apparently!" really should've been followed up on.  I either don't believe they were said, or I want to wag my finger at the poster for not retorting with anything like "Better than you".

I've had more than one guy I worked with who was surprised when they found out I like anime.  They didn't say anything quite that stupid, though.

Being surprised by it is fine.  But when you present yourself as knowledgeable about the series, and get completely schooled, it isn't a gender issue.  It's a knowledge issue.

I linked it from NotAlwaysWorking in the chatbox a while ago. The whole point of the site is to tell stories about really stupid thing that store employees have done or said, as a counterpoint to NotAlwaysRight, a site about really stupid things customers have done or said.

So that that story is on that site means that the emphasis is on the store employees being morons.

I thought it was one of those "OMG GIRL NERDS EXIST? NO WAI!" articles that were apparently written by someone from the early 90s.
