Yes, a classmate of mine in high school turned out to be a very very very distant cousin of mine. The grandson of my grandmother's cousin if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, one of my Grandmothers friends turned out to be related to her in some way or another, and since I also knew that friend, I was related to her as well.

Yeah a couple of people I'd met turned out to be related to me through my cousin or second cousin.

Not that I can recall.

I've met my sister's boyfriend's brother online, and after discussing siblings and in-laws we thought both of our stories sounded way familiar Not sure if that counts though. But if we are speaking random coincidences (I know, we are not, but now I am :V). In fifth grade (or sixth) I was at a schooltrip and took some photos of the pool there. Didn't really like the pictures much as two girls were on both but still, it was decent pictures. When I started uni and moved into my new apartment one of my best friends went trough my photos and realised that was her in those photos. And we met in tenth grade and came from different towns and different schools. (Well same school in tenth grade, but before that.)

This is probably kinda uncommon in Germany at the moment. The branching would gave to occur late enough in the family tree in order for one to realize it, but also early enough as you'd know the person otherwise, leaving a relatively small window. However, this very window happens to be pretty much about the generations that fought in the world wars, so the number of possible unknown relatives is significantly decreased :x

Yes, I remember one person that later I discovered he was a far relative.
