Discussion Value vs Entertainment Value

Just curious... I would just like to know other people's opinion on the type of threads DCTP forum have. I haven't read other threads but most of the threads I encounter here most of the time turn out to be a crazy thread. But threads in the story section do have some discussion value... The Off-topic section is like a Fun&Games section... I haven't encounter any off-topic debate thread here in DCTP forum...

I know that poll kills discussion but I'm hoping you will state the reason why you chose that option. In case, you'll choose "Others" , please specify (I'm thinking this is yet another funny response).

VOTE NOW!

Btw, DCTP forum partly took the little sanity I had after I graduated from college! I may not be participating much on the F&G threads, but most of the time I LOL'd whenever I read them...

although it's probably not "perfect", I'd say the perfect mix option. There's enough social threads for whoever wants em, and there's enough plot discussion in the manga forum for whoever wants that.

The only thing that we could maybe be lacking in would be anime plot discussion, because most of the people who wanna discuss plot have read the manga to catch up on it and they've just stayed in there.

I had to vote 'Perfect Mix'.  Yes, the threads here tend to be lighthearted and silly, and there are few really serious topics.  However, every once in a while a serious topic will appear (like the Child Abuse thread), or a serious discussion will erupt in the middle of an initially non-serious thread (such as in the Heiji x Kazuha thread).  That's what I call a pretty 'perfect' mix, because people can come here to be silly and have fun, and yet at the same time we have the freedom to discuss serious matters as well.

Maybe I'm just used to other forum sites wherein there's a specific section for serious topics (e.g. Debate section or Extensive Discussion section)

I noticed this too. But most of the time, what's supposed to be a fairly serious discussion turns out to be another LOL thread...

On the DC story topic(s), hands down for DCTP forum... This is only the place where I get to encounter detailed discussion about DC...

A perfect example would have been the one about haibara's hat KID's disguise

I didn't quite go for "perfect", since that implies that the discussion topics STAY discussion topics... It's LOL threads, mixed with serious discussion threads which fall prey to the Second Law of Thermodynamics to a greater or lesser extent. However, the proportion of seriousness to LOLness, I think, is a perfect constant.

There are times when some posers just go for the LOLz so it can't be avoided. I am guilty of that myself... However, most of the time I have a BTT part at the end of my post after the LOLzzz...

I randomly go from lolz to serious and well thought out discussion at any given moment so it works for me.

...posers  ???  :-\

I didn't quite get you here... I was actually talking about in a wholistic approach (online forums in general)...
