So... three days ago my cousin and his wife very excitedly announced that they were having their second child... then today we got a call from my aunt saying that they had a miscarriage at 12 weeks.

I'm just... really knocked for a loop by that. They were so excited and now just... we're going to visit them tomorrow. I need to give her all of the hugs.

My Aunt had a miscarriage a few years ago it was going to be her 3rd child. :(
Also a friend of my family just had a child after trying for years and having 2 or 3 miscarriages; it's been really hard for her to get pregnant. :(
Give her a hug from me too.

Awww that's sad, I know many ladies who miscarried at even further period or had still birth. I had an early miscarriage at three weeks in my first pregnancy and it was not a good feeling, so it must be really hard when the pregnancy go further. * Hugs to all your family *

This has been quite the week.
Monday: Gran Jury ruling. I went into this in the OMM thread, so I won't repeat it.
Tuesday: Medical. Keeper and I went downtown for one of her appointments and discovered that there isn't any parking for the building the office is in. On the up side, we did find a spot where there was an hour left on the meter, so we didn't have to feed it as much.
Wednesday: Snowstorm rolls in. Well, I'll have the oven running at least part of the day anyway, because I have baking to do for Thanksgiving. Spent a good chunk of time banging about the kitchen and pantry trying to find what I needed for my baking. Used 3 eggs making Polka-Dot Blondies (which actually turned out quite well with the GF flour). Couldn't go to the store to get anything I didn't already have (because snow, and Archi was at work). Made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies with the remaining 2 eggs. Power flickered while the second tray of cookies was baking, which was a little upsetting. Came back on quickly, though, so it really only killed my computer and the timer on the oven. Cookies got slightly overdone, but still OK. Around 6pm the power went out completely. When Archi got home, we went out to get gas and visit the mall for cheap food. (No power means we can't cook.) Afterward we returned home and played cards for a bit before bed.
Thursday: Still no power. Archi's Mom hadn't lost power, though, so we dropped Keeper off there to borrow internet and stay warm--she telecommutes and had to work. Archi and I then made the hour-long drive to Archi's sister's house. (The rest of the family arrived in different cars.) Dinner and visiting with family was great, managed not to engage Archi's Dad in any discussions of politics (which would have caused a dramatic fight). Heading home was... less enjoyable. My back objected to the long ride, and my lower abdomen decided to join the pain-party. My ankle threatened to join in as well, but fortunately held off. Also we tried 3 different times/places to get a drink at Starbucks but couldn't find one that was open. Returned home to find that the power had not come back. Gathered up what we needed for the night and went to spend it at Archi's Mom's place.
Friday (today): Archi drove by the house en-route to work and noted that the power was still off (the traffic lights were out). Upstairs neighbor stopped by for a bit and discovered that not only was there no power, but the driveway STILL had not been plowed. Archi stopped by the flat again on his break to learn that the plow had come through and the power was back on. Archi's Mom dropped Keeper and me off at home on her way elsewhere. Got in, turned on heaters, went to check the furnaces to make sure upstiars' heat would be on when she got home, and realized that the reason we were out of oil is that the oil we bought in late October was put into the wrong tank. The tank for third floor (where no one is living) is 3/4 full. Our tank may have a faulty gauge. Called the oil company to complain and was told they need to talk to the driver who delivered the oil, and he has the day off today so they can't do anything about it until Monday. "It is cold in my house," I complained, but their only suggestions were to buy more oil (I can't do that, I have to pay the rent) or buy diesel fuel at the gas station and pour it in myself (3 reasons I can't do that: physical disability, nothing to carry the fuel in, and no idea how to remove the cover on the oil pipe). Got mad and hung up on them after they tried to insist that I could very well have used up 100 gallons of oil in less than a month because the house I live in is old. When I looked up from my phone, Keeper was sitting in my computer chair fiddling with the modem. This lead to the discovery that while the power was back, we now had a cable outage. Lovely. Fortunately the internet is back up and running now. Keeper starts work in about half an hour, and Archi normally gets off about then as well, but he might stay for overtime. I meant to go buy eggs at the little market, only I forgot and now it's much too late--by the time I get out to the main road the market will be closed for the day.
I have finally started to actually publish my story! For the moment, expect a new chapter each month.

The Case of the Midnight Channel
"When a strange letter summons the Mouri family to Inaba, Ran is expecting a case. She's not expecting it to involve the TV, though.
If Naoto investigated everyone who came to visit Inaba, she'd have little time for real cases. When Yukiko reports that the Midnight Channel is back, however, she starts to wonder if the visitors are connected. Especially when the image clears, unveiling yet another mystery."

Short version: I'm taking various DC/MK characters to Inaba (where Persona 4 takes place) and dropping them through the TV to face their Shadows!

What I'm feeling frustrated about: when somebody tells you that a word is very offensive and you're hurting them by using it, maybe start by apologizing for hurting them rather than trying to justify your use of it? If you really feel that you need further information on why the term is offensive, maybe Google it instead of badgering people who are learly upset by the topic? (In this case, somebody that I thought was a good friend was insistently trying to defend her right to use a slur beginning with "r" on the basis that she didn't know it was a slur and "it was a medical term originally". The fact that she was using it as an insult as a medical description didn't seem to tip her off that it was offensive...)

People can be so stupid........

Co(stupid)worker (at 5pm saturday, aka the time she has to be at work, but she's never there at.... >_>), calls the guy who's filling in as chef right now, since the chef quit a couple of weeks ago, to say she's not coming.
Me, I had plans to go help mom do some volunteer work, so I wasn't going to fill in for her.
This woman, didn't even have the courtesy to call me, or message me, I'm sure she didn't just decide at 5pm that she didn't want to show up. We get along well, and I know I've been nice to her, I could've been a meany and told her off every freakin' time she did stuff wrong, because, ohes myes, I boil inside at least twice a week, because she messes stuff up, that I have to fix >_____> So, why? Why couldn't she just give me a heads up that she wasn't coming so I could be ready for it??? (Because people suck, that's why).
I'm mad at her.
So I'm not counting on her this week. I was sure she wasn't going to come anymore.
But noooooooo.
Last night she sends me a message (not even apologizing for not showing up on saturday) that she's going to work tomorrow (so actually this morning). I had already arranged with someone else to cover her shift this morning, because in my head, she wasn't going to show up anymore.
Then, this morning at 8am (work starts at 9am), she messages me to say she's actually not going :V
But then she changes her mind again, saying she's going.
And I'm like....... WHAT?! Stop messing with me you animal! I'm sooooo annoyed.
I didn't reply to even one of her messages, I'm so upset, she crapped my weekend, and she's ruining my monday. Right now, I'm just hoping she leaves for good today. I can't count on her anymore.
I thought she was nice, well, she's not.

There's a reason she's doing this, but it does not involve me.
Work doesn't want her there anymore starting January, because she doesn't have a working visa any longer (she's from another country). That could mean trouble for them, so it's normal, they told her about it last week. She doesn't want to pay to get her visa (She told me how much it is, and really, it's not that much, if she stops buying herself some of the shoes/clothes, or make-up I know for a fact she buys a month, for one month, she can afford it) and wants the boss to take her in illegally :V

I don't understand people and it makes everything even more frustrating than it already is -_-
I hate being mean to people, I don't know how to handle situations like this, and just feel like crying. Now I'm gonna have to see her face at work this afternoon, and I'm mad at her. I feel like I need to say something to her, because she shouldn't be able to do this kind of crap and get away with it.

I really need to find me a new job, I hate this place and even more right now.

That sounds awful. To be honest, if I were the boss, I'd probably fire her over that whole mess anyway. :-X

I had a break down earlier... work just got too much. Not only did the machine break down for a total of two hours and did the food I had make my throat hurt from stomach acid, the only person helping me sort the meat was taken away halfway through, leaving me on my own in front of a fast moving conveyor belt. And when I thought it was finally over they told me I had to work overtime... luckily by then they realised I was on my own.
After that, though, I found out my OV chip card (the Dutch equivalent of the English Oyster card) was missing, meaning I had to walk an hour to get home, having sore feet from standing the entire time. That last bit was definitely too much...
