This is a sort of bad, sort of hilarious story.
So, I was at work today, working at the customer service desk. A couple came up and wanted to return a few things they had purchased using a check about 5 days ago. It is our policy not to return items purchased by check until at least 7 days have passed. I explained this to them and they were extremely unhappy. I offered to put the return amount onto a gift card (because my supervisor had told me that would be alright) and they refused. I explained that we have to wait 7 days to make sure the check clears, blah blah blah. They were still angry and said, "I made this drive from (a place roughly 30 miles away, a drive I make
every single day) just to return this! blah blah blah" My manager ended up returning it for cash to shut them up, basically. Later, the lady came back to the customer service desk and wanted to speak to the manager again. Two of my managers (our store has several, by the way) were in the room just behind our service desk, so I asked one of them to come speak to her. I didn't realize it was the same lady at the time. So the one who hadn't spoken to her already talked to her and she told him I was being rude and a smart mouth. He came up to me later and told me what she'd said. Luckily, he knows me better than that and knew something was just totally wrong with that lady; apparently she wouldn't even look him in the eye while she was talking to him.
The best part of the night, though, was when my managers were talking about her and making jokes about how she wouldn't look them in the eye. Cheered me up pretty well.
