Re: Homosexuality: A Survey
I'm gonna take that as "I don't have a problem with homosexuals, but I'm straight" because otherwise I'm torn between confused and... well, let's just leave it at confused.

Re: Homosexuality: A Survey
In regards to homosexuality, I personally have no problems with it. I even go to a church with a VERY open-door policy, meaning that gays may attend. They can pretty much do anything, except deliver a sermon if the pastor's out sick. So I'm used to being around them, and I don't have any problems.
The only things I have actual problems with are yaoi and yuri fanfiction, AMVs, etc., if the characters depicted are straight in their original media. (aka KaiShin)

Yes, I support homosexuality. I've had a fairly good number of gay and bisexual friends and quite honestly it was my heterosexual friends I had some many problems with their sexuality. I don't want to be forced to watch you make out without someone and I sure as hell don't want to hear about what goes on in your bedroom!

Re: Homosexuality: A Survey
The Catholic Church believes that marriage is for procreation, raising children and the joining between a man and a woman. Gay marriage on the other hand is infertile and has shown to be an unhealthy lifestyle for its participants and society. There is nothing wrong with being a homosexual but having sex with the same sex is wrong, and is considered, an offense against God (just as all pre-marital sex is).
"Basing itself on sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered. They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved" (Catechism of the Catholic Church 2357).
"Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection" (CCC 2357– 2359).
Think about it, separating a man and woman, our reproductive organs become the only parts of our body without a purpose, they are useless. Only when a man and a woman are joined do these parts become useful.
This is my view, don't take it as an offense.

But what about a straight couple where one or both partners are infertile?
What about people that can no longer have children?
And, just my personal opinion, we need to focus more on taking care of the children without families, rather than bringing more people into the world.

Re: Homosexuality: A Survey
Yeah, sorry for that. I don't really wanna argue about homosexuality being inborn or being a choice. I think there's two aspects to this. I think one can be a homosexual because of what took place in the genes, such that there were more hormones of the opposite sex in one person. But I also think it's a choice as well, since in the end one decides what he/she wants to be in his/her life. Also, environment plays a role as well in determining who you are.PhoenixTears wrote:Like it's a person's choice to be straight, eh?Kor wrote:what.......?The Mask wrote: Age: 21

Reason: It's the person's choice if they wish to be homosexuals or not. As long as they don't step on the rights of other people, I'm okay with it. It's all about respecting each other.![]()
I've heard of straight people becoming gay people and gay people becoming straight people. So that's why I don't wanna be in just one side of the spectrum.
Well, I'm not the only non-American who supports Ron Paul. Besides, whoever America elects to be President will ultimately have a significant effect in our country. But that discussion is for another thread.Akonyl wrote:this post blew my mind solely because you're not from the US but you still have a Ron Paul avatar :VThe Mask wrote: Age: 21

Anyway, Yes, 23, USA. I don't see why I should care who or what people do behind closed doors so it makes no difference to me.

Re: Homosexuality: A Survey
This makes no sense at all. I believe more discrepancies in the Bible were posted a page or two back, but just let me tackle this real quick:Tawi wrote: The Catholic Church believes that marriage is for procreation, raising children and the joining between a man and a woman. Gay marriage on the other hand is infertile and has shown to be an unhealthy lifestyle for its participants and society. There is nothing wrong with being a homosexual but having sex with the same sex is wrong, and is considered, an offense against God (just as all pre-marital sex is).
1) If fertility is the only issue, then why would it be okay for sterile, yet straight, people to get married?
2) What about people who get married, are fertile, but have absolutely no desire to procreate?
3) Nothing has been shown that a homosexual lifestyle is any less healthy than a heterosexual one. If you intend to bring up STDs in any sense, keep in mind that many straight people have STDs as well.
4) I'm not even going to mention further the ridiculousness of "homosexuality is okay, but not homosexual sex".
So, as a single person, am I an affront to God? After all, I'm not using my reproductive organs for "their intended purpose", according to you.Think about it, separating a man and woman, our reproductive organs become the only parts of our body without a purpose, they are useless. Only when a man and a woman are joined do these parts become useful.
Stop making sense, we're talking about religion here.PhoenixTears wrote: And, just my personal opinion, we need to focus more on taking care of the children without families, rather than bringing more people into the world.

@The Mask:
The way I think of sexuality is that it's more of a fluid thing for most people, rather than something that's completely set in stone from birth (which is also why I don't really find it being called a choice as offensive as other people might). I think people are so wrapped up in labeling everyone (gay, straight, bi, whatever), that they expect people to fit into nice little categories and it just doesn't work that way a lot of the time.
A person can think they're straight for most of their life until they happen to fall for someone of the same gender... And maybe at that point they think they're bisexual, only to realize later on down the line that they're not really attracted to the opposite gender at all anymore - doesn't mean they were wrong or confused, just they changed. It happens.
@GinRei:
Sorry about that V: Sometimes I just get the urge to have a discussion that actually makes sense. Don't worry, doesn't happen often.

Why do I have a feeling you just turned what I said into some kind of inappropriate pun, GinRei?
