Boring update on the research I've been working on.
Spoiler:
Research seems to be going well, yay.
The PhD candidate I'm working with has 2 assistants, another girl and I. The other girl is a Stats major, so she does all the charts, coding and data crunching stuff. I'm only doing Econometrics this semester and I can use STATA and probably write a few simple codes in Excel so I'm sooooo glad she's handling the hard numbers. I've had some pretty good ideas regarding the directions we should follow and the stuff I need to find ^^"

I'm in charge of most the legwork, anything from digging up books older than the three of us combined from the libraries for barely legible data to bugging people from the DOT and DOC for some old database that apparently NOBODY archived. Wtf. Okay, Official Airlines Guide, listen up. You have historical data of US airfare in the past 50 years or so, how the hype do you not have a tape, an archive, or ANYTHING of said shit? No, like, seriously.

Gotta request like 20 books from the school's storage library to see if they have anything interesting. It's kinda fun and frustrating at the same time. You find some cool analysis and try to find the source and THERE IS NO SOURCE WTF. It is my specialty though to dig up old shit from the internet nobody can find, hah. Would would've thought the Government Accountability Office would have the most useful info for our research?

Also, someone please tell me WHY there are so many hyping bureaucracies in the US? So many "research libraries," so many "accounting offices," "bureau of stats" this "bureau of stats" that. Can't we just combine everything into one gigantic online database so poor unpaid undergrad research assistants like yours truly can actually keep track? ;__; (Keep in mind I'm not a data scientist and I know that data structure is serious stuff but this is so frustrating OMG)

So apparently I'm the writer, and I'm cool with that. He hasn't read my lit review or case study yet, I hope he likes them. I'm in charge of writing like 3 more case studies, mainly because I've been looking through all the historical stuff so I can try and pull something out of thin air maybe.

Another prof asked if I wanted to do my senior thesis(?!) with him next year. YES SIR IF I GET A HIGH ENOUGH GPA TO EVEN DO A SENIOR THESIS. Super chill and incredibly smart guy, does stuff on intellectual property rights. I need to go to office hour more so he'll let me do research with him though

Wow, RL has actually caught me so much I didn't visit here much lately. Didn't think that would ever happen. But I'm not completely disappearing, no worries ^^

Research went incredibly well today. I only did a tiny part of the work, but I saw a problem that apparently had been around for a few years being solved, and IT WAS AWESOME. Another!

Also, weather changed from 13°C (running around with warm water bottle under my jacket) to 28°C and humid (can't stop sweating whenever I move a bit) within about two days. Yay, summer! \o/
And I can have an aquarium in my office. Fish! \o/

Yeah, I'm pretty much in paradise here ^^

har har har
Very long post that makes no sense whatsoever.
Spoiler:
So remember how Cider's been complaining about Finance homework for about a month now?
Well, I love the class. My professor is so smart and so nice, and he worked for Salomon Brothers, Bear Sterns, Barclays, Countrywide and crashed the market several years ago. Kidding :P He left a while ago though to teach, but dude knows what's going on in the real world and it's so awesome to just listen to his lectures. I swear, every single class I can write down several wtf-did-he-really-just-say-that quotes and it's awesome.
"You guys probably heard someone saying 'This is *insert school name* we teach you Keynesian"
"You graduate, you get a job at Wells Fargo. Because you've taken Financial Economics, you're put into their loan department. One day, you tell your boss to let you handle a big account. You're friends with Paul Allen, so you lend money to him. Everything works out great, he pays you on time. Paul introduced you to his friend Bill Gates, another great client. Your boss is happy, you get promoted. Now you get your own minions. One day you're out of Paul and Bill's friends to lend to, so you start lending to the people who MIGHT not be able to pay you back. But you're still getting good returns, and soon you're the top genius lender at Wells Fargo. The rest of the industry is doing what you're doing. Then something caught wind something and your bosses are like "No, no, we need to get our money back." You go to the first guy, he doesn't have anything, so you go to the second - this person pays you back. You think "one out of two people paid me back" so you're probably okay, right? No, you're screwed. So, the next day, you decide to retire early to "spend time with family" and after you leave work, you buy a plane ticket to a country with no extradition treaty with the US. Congratulations, you've crashed the entire market."

Anyway, this genius Cider decided it would be a good idea to spend 20 dollars on cheese since it's almost Spring break. Cheese + cider + grapes + Finance homework is a strange combination but lol I'm really enjoying myself. Looks like I'm pulling an all nighter though, so that's stupid. I haven't had a drink in so long I'm kinda typsy after one bottle :v Yeah, this definitely needs fixing.

one day until Spring Break yeah~

That's... not good. *sends all the caffeine*

In other news, partial solar eclipse, supermoon (not a full one admittedly but still) and spring equinox tomorrow~ :D I have two frees for my first lessons tomorrow so I can steal my friend's eclipse glasses and it'll be great. Unless it'll be cloudy. But hopefully not.
