If you mean for your hdtv (which should obviously be able to support higher resolutions), right click your desktop, click properties, then (depending on your operating system), click display settings. Here you should see a screen with your resolution, and some squares that correspond to your monitors. Click the square for the HDTV, and then crank the slider for the resolution to the max, and you should hopefully have a pretty big resolution (1920x1080 probably if it's a 1080p tv)

hm, I dunno then. Maybe your video card just doesn't support that resolution or something silly? I got nothing.
