That theory is definitely nonsense. But Kor wrote "some sort of connection", which is something entirely different. I personally believe that, Mew being ancestor to all Pokemons, Ditto is simply a very close relative, evolutionary speaking, unlike all other Pokemon. I.e., all other Pokemon evolved and changed, while Ditto's barely changed at all (yes, that means the weight point is moot). So, if you were to draw a tree of Pokemon evolution, you'd have a very early branch-off, which continues as a straight line all to the bottom - Ditto.
A bit like still-living Coelacanth, which is a unchanged branch-off of the animal that became the ancestor of all land-bound vertebrates.
