Now we know; the "breaks" are actually when he makes escape attempts and either is on the lam for a couple of days before being recaptured, or he needs to be... disciplined before returning to work.

So Chek is to blame for the lack of plot progression?

No, it's just taken her this long to break Gosho into doing it the way she wants. He's still trying to get her to let him turn Akai into a robot zombie.Parkur wrote: So Chek is to blame for the lack of plot progression?

I keep telling him it would be a much better twist if Akai's death was really faked by Kir firing live bullets which were blocked by Akai's cyborg exoskeleton.pofa wrote:No, it's just taken her this long to break Gosho into doing it the way she wants. Well the time is fast aporching where many will looks like fools. Beware when author say might be something. Be sure that they are miss leading you and getting you to follow a false path. Beware when authors toss you a bone at the right time. Know that that bone is a fish called a red herring. Authors simple do not just give their clues away, and might even change the way they were going to do things simply to show the reader who controls the story.Beware the wide path that many take to this doom or fooldom. Instead that the path that is narrow and twisty. The one with rocks and hardship in it path. Stay true to that path and find the truth. Do not depend on those who may lead you astray. And remember the path you take you might get stuck with. Beware. I still think most by blindly following Chekhov are head for disillusionment. I am not saying to go my way of thought or not. I am just warning to be prepared to be sadden when things turn out different then you thought.

@sstimson: I'm kind of confused on your view here.
You're saying we're going to be saddened and feel foolish "when the theories don't turn out to be true" but you've also been saying that stories should have these turns to make the story exciting. I'm not sure I make the connection between "feeling foolish" and exciting
As someone who's planning and writing my own little story (mostly for hobby) I have 8 pages on very short summary notes on the "books" in the series and specifically how the plot is going to roll out in them so I can make hints for any readers (most likely friends just for sh**s and giggles) to make the connections and guesses. Personally, I don't think there could be anything more satisfying than someone picking up on your hints and making a theory close to the truth...well, unless you didn't give many hints.
See, the thing is, Gosho has a very complicated set-up going here...just for the Okiya-Akai-Bourbon plot. Chekhov's posts aren't just short things like "Okiya is Akai because of xxxxx". It's not one view either. She brings out arguments as to why the other theories don't work, she's not afraid to answer questions, and most notably she updates her theories almost regularly to stay up to date. She changes things as the evidence comes.
There was a comment earlier where you said something like "Theorizing is all good when the work is completed". I thoroughly disagree. (though that doesn't mean I don't respect your opinion, not everyone thinks like me after all) At the very least in my case, theorizing after a work is completed doesn't make any sense. It's the very fact that you physically have no method of checking if your theories are correct that provides half the fun. Slowly seeing more and more evidence getting published finally leading to a conclusion that may or may not be the one you came to...that's something I love about DC <3 It's all too easy for anyone to just flip to the back of a book to see what happens, but what happens when you can't flip? You have time to kill. How do you kill it? Theorizing of course
Anyway, all of the above is essentially for naught as Chek has already confessed to her confinement of Gosho. I've got...visitors planned to meet her soon also so

Re: News Alert: Chekhov Confesses, Gosho held Prisoner in ba
Okay I understand where you might be going, but if you were a mystery writer, how would you feel if at the end of book one of a ten book set, everything you were going to do had been written down and published as a guide to your series, even before you finished writing it?
Another way to put this is: it is okay to have these turns as long as a surprise in waiting in the wings. Maybe it is a double disguise like Okiya is Akai but is really a person hired by Shinichi Dad to keep a look on his son. Sera is Akai sister who is really the sister of the fellow hired. Scar is the real Akai who so miscalculated the miss shot as to get the brain injures very badly due to over heating. Twist are okay as long as they are very very well hidden. Twist you can see a mile away, might as well not exist. It is a good idea to let the reader think and believe a red herring until you do the reveal and then the reader is shocked to find out they were taken down the rose path while next to them was the truth. That why I believe it is best to be skeptical about what seem too good, that which is too obvious, that which seem can be only one way, because that is when the great writers strike and turn your world upside down and retake control. I think Gosho is a good writer which is one reason I think that world of many of chekhov ideas is about to be turned upside down. Again the great writer hide their stories in plain sight. They are like magician, they show you the lie and move you to look away from the truth which is right in front of your nose. The Great one never lets you know what is coming until they want you to know. They always control the story.
As Gosho is in Chekhov basement, we need to find the code message that says " Help! Being held prisoner! Location is such and such! send police!"

Well Abs. It called, I know what should be in the message, but not the actual message. I had to put such and such instead of .... in ...., ...., .... at the corner of .... and .... number ..... as I still need to decrypt that part yet. Stay tuned.
