Re: What would YOU do?
Obviously when this acquaintance collapses, you do the normal things like curse, check for a pulse, call for an ambulance, etc... But there's no pulse, no breathing, zero signs of life at all. The ambulance people have told you it'll be about 15-30 minutes before they get there. You're sitting there with a dead body.

Though he might be dead. If you act fact enough you might be able to save their life.
That being the case getting to body to a very cold spot could save their life. Therefore move the body to a freezer or find ice to pack the body with. Doing nothing means the body is certain dead. A new question is if you knew you could save a life by cold treatment would you?

Re: What would YOU do?
Lots of you seem to be missing the point.
The topic isn't about "would you save your friend" or "how would you save your friend" or "how can you tell that your friend is dead"
It's not a question if you can tell if your friend is alive or not. The premise of the topic is that your friend died, and that is a fact. Given that fact, how would you respond to the money situation?
That's sort of like being asked "if you ordered a plain hamburger at a restaurant, what would you put on it", and saying "well how do I know it's not actually a chicken sandwich? Because I'd put pickles on my chicken sandwich."

And I am answering that question.Even if the friend is dead. Doing nothing is out of the question. Dead People do get saved and live after the near death experience. Even if there is a one chance in 100,000,000 have would you feel if you just called the 911 and watches Precious time past that might have saved him?Akonyl wrote: Lots of you seem to be missing the point.

AS for part two unless you bring other kinds of food to such a restaurant, then you eat or remove what they put on it. You did say PLAIN.

you're still attempting to circumvent the question through a means which was quite obviously not the question's intent.sstimson wrote:And I am answering that question.Even if the friend is dead. Re: What would YOU do?
Ending this:
If I have no money and saw a store that would sale Ice when I would use their money to try and save their life.
If I have money and saw a store that sold ice, Then I would not need their money to save their life.
So GM, do I have enough money on me and is there a store that sales ice?

The person is dead. There are no stores nor any people in the near vicinity. Your cell phone died after you made the call to emergency services. Your acquaintance did not carry a cell phone or any other communications device. You also did not carry any other communications device. Your vehicle is parked a convenient 5 miles away. You do not have on your person a syringe with which someone could conjecture that you used to introduce an air bubble into the victim's bloodstream. Your acquaintance weighs nearly three times as much as you do. There is nothing nearby with which you could fashion any sort of rig with which to transport said acquaintance.

Re: What would YOU do?
Do I have super-powers that allow me to freeze the body? Do I have magical powers or maybe a scroll of "resurrection" so I can get that person back to life? Is Superman around? Do I have a time-machine so I can get back in time and warn that person before he has a heart-attack?Abs. wrote: The person is dead. There are no stores nor any people in the near vicinity. You have to clarify what are the settings and what are my opions/abilities, you know. (btw, I'm just kidding ;D)

Re: What would YOU do?
Why do I walk around the desert with my fat acquaintance who I lend money to?Abs. wrote: The person is dead. There are no stores nor any people in the near vicinity. Jk ;p
But actually, I always carry a syringe with me D:
Anyway, I answered to your question with a given setting. And I thought about the setting and said that I would be to busy saving the dude and wouldn't think about the money. And then it would be too late to get the money from him.
Another point, if that dude is owing me money, why would he have 100$ with him and not giving it back to me? Even if he died, he probably wouldn't carry so much money with him. Well, you could have lend it to him and he dies right after that (lol)
Anyway, I know what your point is. So still:
1) The person suddenly has a heart attack next to me. I would be too busy trying to save him and would not think about it at the moment. SO I'll call ambulance/help etc. and it would be too late to take the money back without anyone noticing.
Of course, I could go to his corpse at night and steal it. But I wouldn't do that.
-> vote: no
2) I walked around with my acquaintance and leave him on a bench to get something (in a store etc.) I leave him alone for 15 mins or more. After I came back I notice he died of a heart attack, so rescuing is impossible.
Now, if I lend him some money on a different day, I would think he doesn't have so much money with him anyway. And "looking through" a dead body and looking into his wallet is too risky considering he doesn't have the money with him.
In case I gave him the money on the same day (like 1-2hours ago) I'd get the money back from him. (trying not to look like a robber)
-> vote: no and maybe yes
3) I visit my acquaintance at his home and notice he died on the couch.
a) he was obviously murdered and I don't touch anything at all but call the police. Especially when there is a group of kids claiming to be the detective boys
b) He died a normal way. But since I watched too much DC and would be at shock, I probably wouldn't think about the money again and wouldn't try anything. Just call police.
-> vote: no
So since the risky situations are would be yes votes, and the others are no, I'd vote for no. But it really depends on the situation and if you have a clear head to think about the money.

IF the Death Note does not exist.Kleene Onigiri wrote:Well, if it's a heart attack, he doesn't just "die instantly".Abs. wrote: The person just up and dies. There is no rescue. You were walking in a place where there are few passers-by.
And on the other hand, even if he's "pretty much dead", then you still have the duty to help and call an ambulance. Otherwise it's a crime (at least here).
