@_@ though I don't remember KID does that but ... for what reasons?
He and Haibara must hate each other, then
PS: I myself endorse the idea of "eternal life"

I'm not sure but is it because a lot of the gems/jewels that Kaito Kid steals are somehow capable of achieving you eternal life, and he was stealing to prevent the bad guys from getting them?

KID is trying to find the gem that can give someone an eternal life before the evil organization does.
P.S.
Read Magic Kaito manga.

Lol Kaitou it just spiteful
Well no, I'm sure he's the type of person who doesn't like people who "cheat" life using magic. It's like how magicians shouldn't use magic to create their effects, but should use tricks to make people believe there is magic.

According to Magic Kaitou, KID wants to find the gem called "Pandora Gem"... it's a doublet, and rumored to be able to give anyone who consumes it immortality... which is why he's after "large gem with great history that are stored in place that never received moonlight" since "Pandora Gem" glows red under the moon light. Thus the reason KID returns any gem he stole after the next full moon is because none so far has been "Pandora" he was looking for.
p.s. It was because of this gem that the Organization (BO) killed his father, that's why he wanted it ^_^

You guys, taking things too seriously
The Pandora Gem will probably flash pictures, codes, or chemical formulas (for making the immortality potions/medicine) on a wall when struck by moonlight. Hence, the "tears" of the gem.
Though I wonder what real life reference did Gosho use for the Pandora Gem. All I know is the Pandora's Box from the Greek Mythology. The Pandora Gem might symbolize the only thing left in the box, w/c is hope, or maybe one of the other evils that came out of the box (anger, despair, lust, etc.)
The reason why I hate Kid is because he lives for revenge. He even said himself that he hated what he was doing: stealing gems and stuff (in the last MK chap, if my memory serves me right), but does it for the sake of finding the people who killed his father. But he probably forgets his grudge for a while when great detectives like Conan and Hakuba challenge him, making heists more interesting for him.

It's not entirely for revenge... He also wanted to prevent the Organization to obtain such power... He's not planning on killing anyone yet... so far, he just want to obtain the gem and possibly destroy it.... I think it's more like he's trying to up hold his father's beliefs

LOL. I can't imagine Kid with angst.
there would be LONGG monologues everytime before he whips out his gun card/smoke bomb/glider. o_o
I'm sure others have also wondered before, if the storylines of DC and Kaito Kid will merge then? (I hope not, although I like the 'guest appearances'

)

LOL Maybe that "Pandora Gem" is APTX4869
or if the pandora gem gem contains the formula of aptx4869, then that would unify the two series
Maybe Miyano Mad Scientist had Pandora... then he starts researching the "Project" because Pandora needs "something" to work right... OR Pandora is one of the ingredient in APTX4869

Hmmm....... This thread is "What is Pandora?"....
Well, since that's what discussed here..... I think Pandora will somehow be linked, but it's not in the hand of the BO boss yet, however, it could be possible that Pandora is just one of the way the organization looked into to figure out immortality, since there was an episode that said "Shiho Miyano" went to an Island to look for immortality there. It's probably just one of the many ways the organization is investigating... the more important question is "why?"
