“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

Especially with that last page...
Ultimately, I think Gosho will find a way to preserve the status quo, here—to keep things as they were, before—but I didn't expect for her to be there and for her to do that...

Oh gosh, I love how spunky Aoko is allowed to be. I think that because the MK universe isn't a serious story, she's allowed to keep her assertive spirit and not be forced to conform to the "ideal sex object" that Ran eventually had to become. She's allowed to be aggressive about her desires and not take shit from Kaito.
Though, Aoko is the very typical "Goushou love-interest-girl." He's got a thing for confident, assertive teen girls with attitude that can hold their own against their boyfriends, girls who pursue just as much as they are pursued. Also, with fathers that are an obstacle.
Anyways, I'm really happy that we get another story focusing on Aoko.

Spoiler:
Wait a sec... am I reading this right? Kaito says, 「でも今は、寺井ちゃんの友人の博士に直してもらって新車同然だぜ?」 If I remember enough Japanese, I think it means "But as for now, it (the motorbike) is fixed up by Jii-chan's professor (Hakase) friend as a favor, and hasn't it become like a new car?"
I'm wondering if this Hakase friend of Jii's is a certain other Hakase known for extensive mechanical knowledge?
My DC Fanfic: Awaking and Arising - Shiromi writes her version of the end of the series. With 100% more lesbians and immortal zombie boys. And existential crises. Lots of them. Kogorou - A character study that seeks to answer the question: Why is Kogorou the way he is? A Kindred Spirit - Sonoko and Makoto realize that they have more in common than previously realized. DC Fanfic Rants

Spoiler:
This "professor who is a friend of Jii" was first brought up in the anime. I don't know if it's just teasing for the sake of teasing or it will truly turn out said professor is indeed Agasa.
Spoiler: I spent some time reading the speech bubbles(ugh, I'm so out of practice) and here's some info that I gleaned:
Kaito’s in for some baaad luck according to Akako's Tarot cards, and Akako propositioned Kaito again. Now we know what color panties she's wearing.
Jii-chan’s “hakase” friend fixed up the motorbike that Kaito wants to use to outrun the police.
Hakuba shows up to be a killjoy when Kaito’s showing off the bike, saying that only low-powered motorbikes are allowed by their school.
Aoko has unmasked (hatted) Kaitou KID. Jeeze Kaito's an idiot. What's he doing without a mask when dealing with Aoko?
Is that a Buddhist nun talking to Inspector Nakamori?
From what I can see, in this chapter, Kaito is proving thoroughly what a moron he is. Showing up to school where multiple enemies of his are known to gather, showing off the motorbike he wants to use as Kaito KID. Sure, Hakuba totally won't figure that one out right away. And why isn't he using any disguise as Kaito KID before Aoko? She's one of the people who could recognize him the easiest, and he's not wearing a mask???

Okay, so, while Aoko and Ran do look very similar, the girl in that last part of the spoiler (the one who takes his hat off) looks more like Ran than Aoko. It's possible that this'll be a crossover case, where the two of them get mixed up together and fall underneath the trap door, after which Ran mistakenly concludes that Shinichi is the Kid, and Kaito mistakenly concludes that Aoko knows his identity. That'd be a pretty hilarious situation.

Spoiler:
No, it's definitely Aoko. She yells, "Ka-KAITO?" and it uses the correct Kanji for Kaito's name, so it's definitely Aoko recognizing Kaito under the hat.

At this point, there should be a 100% chance that the status quo will win out, even for an optimist like me, but I'll leave the chances of a change at .01%, just in case.

There's something wrong with Aoko's phone. In page 11, she is falling and she's grabbing it with her right hand. Then, in pages 12 and 13, it dissapears until the last panel, where it is shown flying around (Must be hers, bcs I don't think Kaito would bring his to a theft). So my guess is that some assistantant forgot to draw it in those panels, but I think it is going to be important, because they can call Nakamori and ask him for help or use it as a lintern or something else, because Gosho bothered to draw it in the panel when they hit the ground.
