As for Ran thinking Shinichi looks like Kaito, she quickly dispelled the thought that they're the same person after she saw him again.  A possibility is that if she looks closer Kaito really doesn't look like Shinichi afterall (maybe).

And that's because of the hair... I think.

Hmmm. Kaitou was originally Gosho work before Conan, so no, them being twins is impossible ^_^

It just that Gosho's main characters from the two series are drwn the same... happen in every manga with the same artist really ^_^

As I said in another thread:

Shinichi and Katio are long lost twins, but their parents are Kuroba Touchi and Kudo Yukiko.

Eri's children are Ran (with Kogoro) and Aoko (with Nakamori Ginzo).

This we all know as fact.

Hakuba and Haibara are twins as well. Their mother is Vermouth. But that has nothing to do with the present conversation...

Let us not forget that the original theory behind that thread was that Kaito's father = Lupin III and Kaito's mother = Carmen Sandiego...

I'm reviving the thread with my dead theory, that Yuusaku is Original Kaito Kid's brother. So that make Shinichi and Kaito cousins.

Theyre probably just coincidental look-alikes, but they might also be related some way or the other.

There have been dozens of other Shinichi look-alikes, such as Okita, as well as Ran look-alikes, not least Princess Mira. I think it's just that Aoyama-sensei liked the art style. After all, Toichi and Yuusaku do look a bit alike, but they have been seen in the same place (ie, old Kid heists) and when Yukiko met Toichi to discuss her essay there was no sense of them being relatives or siblings. There might be other reasons why they look similar, but I doubt they're related. Maybe it's just fate... XDXD

Yeah, actually it's a common thing said in Japan. This part, I'm not very sure of, but I heard that of the two other people besides ourselves that look exactly alike, you can meet one of them and nothing would happen. But after that, if you meet the other look alike, you'll die....

Interesting thread.  I loved the genetics part.  I only skimmed the other pages so I don't remember if it was mentioned, but I seem to remember Ran saying that she had the same blood type as Conan.  So there really isn't any sense in saying that he is any certain type based on this.

Also, I may be wrong, but I remember seeing somewhere that his blood type was A.  I don't recall where and I can't seem to find it again though, but I think it was a scan of some sort.  I also recall Kaito's blood type being B from the same or similar source.  Kaito's is easy to remember since he has the same blood type as me.  Again, I'm not sure if those are correct.

Kaito's blood type is B, according to the Hakuba Labs genetics computers. I don't know if Shinichi's blood type was ever mentioned.

Though come to that, if Kaito and Shinichi were twins, wouldn't their genes be close enough that the Hakuba computer would bring up Shinichi's name as well? *is ignoring the fact that Aoyama probably hadn't invented Shinichi at the time* XDXD
