Eh?
Ignore Slider's trolling.

Much as I disliked how he was messing with Ran's feelings, I couldn't help laughing at what a jammy bastart he was being XDXD And the reason Ran figures out that he's not Shinichi... ahhh, Kaito the pervert finally showing through Kid the gentleman XD
LOL, indeed. Too bad, I was looking forward to the next movie if it continued on like that. :p

Even though I don't use it myself, I guess that the word 'Duh' would be appropiate here.

I can't believe that a whole seven people dislike Kaito. There is no reason, logical or illogical, to hate Kaitou Kid.

"Dislike" is a wrong word in my case. I just wish for him to die. Slowly and painfully. He is a pervert who plays with sacred things such as the feelings of others (see movie 14). He is the incarnation of arrogance. He uses his skills to steal instead of doing something good. And he always manages to steal what he wants even when Conan is around (that's why I started to hate him in first place). I just cannot stand characters who never fail, especially if they are "bad guys". And he humiliated Genta (one of my favorite characters) in episode 587.

I have to agree with Chekhov's point about the violence, but that's more of an issue I have with Gosho than with Kid. I feel like he's going OOC with his own character; he set Kid up as obsessively non-violent for an understandable reason (his beloved father died violently, and onstage, so Kaito may well have seen it), but then made him act dangerously, and dangerously to people that he likes. They guy didn't even attack the guy who murdered his father. Why would he be violent towards a kid that he's fond of? It's an inconsistency that annoys me. I like the Kid cases as a fairly lighthearted little break from the constant death, so I hate seeing them being darkened like this.

I do also agree that the logic of Magic Kaito is incompatible with the DCverse (Pandora aside, there's also Akako), but as its own series I love it and I really wish it woudl be continued and finished all on his own.

Also, Kaito doesn't exactly "never fail"; he had a few epic fails, in Magic Kaito at least (one of his first cases with Hakuba springs ot mind, as well as the whole thing where Shinichi damn near caught him at the clock tower), he's just really good at picking himself up after.

The charming pervert IS an aspect of his character, at least as Kaito, but it never crept through to Kid before, who was always pure gentleman, so again, I feel like this is an inconsistency with the character. Possibly a symptom of a character spending too long in the wrong series, or maybe just bad movie characterization.

Not canon. Although he is a pervert.

You do know that there's a reason why he is stealing gems and the like, right?

We can't have Conan being on the winning side all the time, right? And he's not actually a bad guy. :P

Very much this. He may not be using the most legal method, but his intentions are positive, catching a group of criminals that the law can't quite manage.

But hey lately he isn't actually stealing, he's asked to steal. He's actually providing some entertainment to people around Japan, and making Jirokichi brainstorm for ideas. The old man's so rich anyway so the money spent on the gems doesn't actually matter, and it sort of prevents the old man from getting neurodiseases. /jk

If Kid stops stealing then Jirokichi and Nakamori will start feeling lonely and bored, people of Japan will miss the performance of a capable magician, and Conan has to face corpses instead of a smug face (which is better, considering in most Kid cases nobody dies). Although if this happens perhaps only Makoto gets a good ending, lol.
