Every time they announce more MK specials I'm disappointed by his absence, so it was great fun to give Saguru a chance to shine a bit.
@Yamiangie: Glad you liked the line - It seemed such a Kaito thing to do, to quote Princess Bride, and it still kept the spirit of the Japanese phrase.
The inclusion of the Princess Bride quote makes me laugh. Not just for the quote itself, mind, but also because it builds on my theory/belief/delusion that the titles of the first four chapters of this volume might themselves be movie references (though I could be wrong about that -- still can't figure out what "Ganka no Kaitou" would be). Another reason is because I've read your fanfiction.
I approve of any Princess Bride references in Magic Kaito. My dream is for Kaito to actually say to Snake "You killed my father. Prepare to die!" or, even better, "I want my father back, you son of a bitch," which is my favourite line in the entire movie.
Kaito quoting Inigo Montoya at Snake would be well and truly awesome. I also aspire to see Saguru quote something of Pratchett, and/or Dr. Who.

I firmly believe Chapter 1 to be referencing Star Wars and Chapter 4 to be referencing Kiki's Delivery Service. I just don't know what "Enter the Great Detective" and "Kaitou Under Scrutiny" (our working title for Ch 3) would be referring to.
Same here. Obvious Star Wars reference is obvious, and considering the silhouette in the moon on the title page for "Akako's Delivery Service" has the same bow and spiky broom as Kiki, it's easy to accept the different kanji as possibly a copyright bypass (no idea how those laws work in Japan, but it doesn't seem like anyone got sued over it).
My idea for "Meitantei Toujou" is a little more meta, for all it took me about five seconds. With the previous two, the idea of this set of chapters being movie references came up, so my brain took the title as "Enter the Detective," referencing Bruce Lee. Given the Japanese title for Enter the Dragon is actually something like "Burning Dragon (燃ã

I kinda feel like Kid's more likely to quote the Doctor, being more manic than Saguru and also more likely to bluff with a Jammy Dodger. Anyone can quote Sir Pterry, though, and should
