After much dawdling around on the Fan Works board, I finally decided to post some stuff of my own as well so here goes!
Done in GIMP
I'm still figuring out the intricacies of GIMP, so sorry if some of them aren't very good feel free to use them if you want to! (These are all done from screenshots, since I'm just no good at colouring stuff...)
Edogawa Conan/Kudo Shinichi, Kaitou Kid, Haibara Ai
Spoiler: finished 04/11/11
My current banner, now redone in beautiful and glorious HD
Screenshot(s): Openings 23, 25
Texture(s): night-fate-stock on deviantART
Edogawa Conan, Haibara Ai
Spoiler: finished 31/10/11
The infamous scene went for a simpler design with this one.
Screenshot(s): Movie 15
Texture(s): sanami276 and night-fate-stock on deviantART
Spoiler: finished 02/11/11
Non-existent scene from Movie 15 made from a mashup of 4 screenshots - I'm actually quite happy with how this one turned out. Love Ai's expression in this one by the way!

Texture(s): wchild on deviantART
Spoiler: finished 04/11/11
Was experimenting around with some effects, and this was the result not very good, I know, but... oh, well.
Screenshot(s): Openings 24, 25
Texture(s): andriano, sanami276 and night-fate-stock on deviantART
Haibara Ai
Spoiler: finished 04/11/11
I happened to download this texture, and just immediately thought of Ai for some reason.
A second, less cluttered version:

Drawings (Under Construction!)
Currently, I haven't done much stuff for DC yet, but rest assured I will soon in the meantime, here's some of the older pictures I did last year:
Hitsugaya Toshiro, Bleach
Spoiler: finished 18/06/10
Done in pencil with half a day and a malfunctioning scanner - hence the slightly grainy quality. Sorry about that
Others
Spoiler: finished 20/06/10
My first attempt at drawing in pen - well, technically, I sketched in it pencil first, then redrew and shaded it with a felt-tip. But it counts, right?
and last but not least... fanfics!
Not much in the way of completed works yet (for now!) but here's a two-parter, originally written as a birthday present for my friend who requested a scene featuring Kaito and Heiji - then somehow expanded into the two-thousand-plus word monstrosity that it is now. Oh, well... not complaining anyway (And it's my first DC/MK fanfic, so sorry if the characterisation's a bit off )
Presenting to you: Once Upon a Train Station!
Spoiler: finished 13/09/11
He walked away from the train station, tugging his baseball cap low with one hand to block the sun's glare while holding his phone in the other.
“ – of course I won’t – “
A pause, then a snort as the reply came from the other side of the line.
“It’s not like I go looking for bodies, ahou! They just – “
The rest of the sentence was lost as the speaker walked straight into another person.
Hattori Heiji scowled as the phone fell to the ground with a clatter, barely stifling the curse that slipped out automatically.
Well, at least it was still functioning – Heiji could clearly hear the crackle of Kazuha’s voice practically exploding from the thing as the other figure straightened, the light from the screen reflecting off the other’s familiar blue eyes as he handed the phone back to its owner –
Wait.
Heiji froze, his phone halfway to his ear, when he realized what he’d just seen.
What –
“KUDO?â€

What are you talking about? They're amazing! I've never been able to do very well with larger images other than a select few times (I work mostly with smaller images), so I'm very impressed by this. Nice job!

Thanks for the huge compliments I used to work with smaller stuff as well, until I decided that to try out stuff with larger pics instead - I figured that if I was going to do it anyway, might as well go all the way, especially given that I fuss over the details a lot, and small pics don't lend themselves well to that sort of nitpicking. (Little bit of a perfectionist here, OCD there if you can't tell =.=) Happy to know that you like them though

P.S. Love your sig. ^^
You're right about smaller stuff not working very well for perfectionists. I dunno how many things I've been halfway through and just couldn't find the right way to make it look good, so I started completely over with something else. XD
I've only done a few things much larger than about the size of your sig banner that I'd even think of showing to other people. XD Something about having all that space to work, I either end up cramming too much in or making it bare and boring.
Quote fail? What quote fail? :x

Most of the stuff I do in GIMP that's any bigger than 100x100 is pretty simplistic. Pick a picture, stick it somewhere, color the background, change transparency, color if I feel like it, throw a quote on it, maybe a brush or two... that's about it. XD
Icons get a little more complicated usually, but I don't make too many of them anymore.

I might wake up early and go running. I also might wake up and win the lottery. The odds are about the same.

Sounds familiar I have that problem a lot, just that it usually happens with my fanfics for me, since I didn't work much with GIMP until recently - I have piles and folders of half-completed fics that I got about a few paragraphs through before giving them up as lost causes...
And my earlier stuff made in GIMP (for Bleach, not DC I think) also had too much space at first =.= took me quite a while to figure out how to balance it out somewhat. I like my stuff generally uncluttered and spaced out, but not quite that empty... learning how to use textures properly has helped me a lot in this regard though at the very least, they provide some sort of order for me to arrange and place stuff I guess.

You don't know how happy I am to hear that - took me just about forever to make them come out just the way I wanted them...

Wow. These are amazing. O.o
What program do you use for the GIMPs?
You guys are too nice to me.
It's just GIMP, actually. Stands for GNU Image Manipulation Program if I'm not mistaken. It's (sort of) like a free, open-source version of Photoshop - you can check it out at http://www.gimp.org/ and download it if you're interested. It's quite easy to learn IMO, and there are quite helpful tutorials online to get you started.
Screenshots are taken in VLC, textures downloaded from deviantART generally. Throw 'em all together and you get this... pretty much. Hope that helps
