Why is this necessary?

Due to the files making their way onto the internet in full much earlier than before, we will be experimenting with having spoiler free discussion threads for all the latest cases. This will give everyone the opportunity to proceed with following and discussing the series in the manner they are most comfortable with.

What happens with the other type of discussion topic?

They stay exactly the same. The topics that we have been discussing the files in while using spoiler boxes need to operate by the exact same rules as before, especially for the time being. There are several reasons for this. Foremost, people may accidentally stumble into that topic (either from the index or without seeing that there is a "spoiler free" topic available). As a result, the old rule of "if DCTP hasn't released it, use a spoiler box" will still apply as much as ever, at least for now.

From the feel of the chapter, I think that the loser (playboy) boyfriend is the killer. I don't know why. I don't think I care why. I just want the loser boyfriend to be locked up. Too much justice thing going on.

And Ran is in danger!!??!?!?!?!?!?!!!11!!!?!?! What is Conan ever going to do?

Personally I think it could be the girlfriend, since she has the most control over some of the events: dropping the key, whatever significance that may have, and most importantly leaving Ran alone. While you could argue that Ran wouldn't have gone if the boyfriend didn't say so, our source that says that he's a playboy is the girlfriend herself, so she might be lying about this and it could actually be expected. Especially since nobody finds it odd that the ex would be mad at dinner, it doesn't sound like two people who are secretly seeing each other. Of course these are just my first impressions, I just read through the file briefly and we don't really have much to go on as is

Also, Ran probably will be a suspect, since it's in a different prefecture, right?

EDIT: Although reading through it again, he (the boyfriend) was pretty distressed about the sister not being there, and he easily invites Ran to join even though she has Conan with her. He says that an extra kid wouldn't be a big deal, but just 5 seconds earlier he was talking about how difficult it was to get her a reservation at the famous restaurant. Maybe he's so quick to bring them along because he knows they won't make it to the restaurant anyway?

The girlfriend being called away should be a point that can be made sense of in the next file, since we'll see who called her. My guess is the third guy, since he's not really suspicious at this point and he needs something

About the invitation of Ran and Conan: the guy was willing to invite them, because the girl's sister couldn't make it and Ran would be a replacement for her and a small kid like Conan wouldn't eat too much anyway, so I can see why he isn't stressed about having Conan around, eventhouh he was complaining before. Also, he complained about the difficulty of getting a reservation, not exactly about the cost.

Yeah, the girlfriend is the most suspicious. She should have encouraged Ran to stay with her boyfriend, if the plan was to catch him while wooing another girl.

Right, but when you get a reservation you're reserving for a specific number of people, and if increasing that number was a problem for the sister, then why wouldn't it be a problem for Conan? It could also be a culture difference between the US and Japan that I'm not getting

I enjoy watching Conan getting stress like that.

Why Ran didn't tell Kogoro go with them to have a meal with Eri like she always planned that, Sera must be guilty for using Ran as a scapegoat then ended up getting hurt.

Since they are in Kanagawa and even mentioned Chinese Restaurant, then Juugo Yokomizo will be in charge in this case, Juugo once meets Okiya back to Ikkaku Rock case, now he going to meet Sera. On the other hand, his elder brother Sango meets Amuro who known as Bourbon.

I wonder if Amuro is near to Conan. It seems to be a quite long case so it wouldn't be surprising to have all Bourbon suspects. After all we didn't see Okiya in a while and Amuro is getting even more dangerous.

I wouldn't be surprised if Amuro is watching Conan even now... But I do have to say, Conan is very paranoid... And the fact at what happened to Ran... Well, let's just say paranoid Conan is gonna be even more stressed. I got a bad feeling that all that stress might get Conan to accidentally do something.

yeah looks like he was following Conan and Conan mentions that his pic got taken twice, Amuro probably wants to confirm something with it but I don't know...
now that I think about it Amuro has the BO files now too


I think it's the boyfriend, the mask and the gas just give me some sort of mixed feelings that it's all to mislead the police

That happens a lot, now that I think about it. When he's stressed, he shows more of himself instead of (barely) attempting a facade of being normal or a little kid. Amuro is perceptive. It likely won't end well, if Conan starts cracking up now.

Though I am ecstatic about the heavy influx of plot as of late. Something's gotta give soon, with all the building tension.

Since about 30 files ago, I already had the feeling that Amuro/Bourbon has the potential to find out who Conan really is. What I'm more concerned about is what he would do with this information if he were to find out. Logic says that if he simply relayed it to Vermouth, it will most likely not recirculate, but could there be potential for Amuro to relay this info to Gin?

It's possible that we'll have a flashback case before long about when they all originally met Sera. If they somehow save Bourbon during that case, similar to how they saved Vermouth in New York, then it might give Bourbon a reason to protect them. (I doubt he'll use the same scenario, but he'll obviously have to come up with something to keep Bourbon from spilling the beans. Plus, I think we've all agreed we're getting the flashback within the next year or so. )

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that Amuro/Bourbon not only has a particular disdain for Akai but also doesn't work too well with Gin. So finding out that Kudo Shinichi is still alive and dragging him before the Boss in order to get back at Gin might create the necessary tension between them, something that Conan as well as Vermouth would be very quick to exploit. If you play this right, you could make Amuro a flimsy ally or at least a neutral party.

Another Option would be to have Amuro die at the hands of either Gin or Vermouth in the ensuing conflict in order to get him out of the picture, now that he knows

Amuro just appeared and you want him to die already? XD
