hi guys 
well, everyone know that it has been a lot of changes in the story line, and one of these changes is Shiho's "true hero".
from the begining, all of us think that shinichi is the one who will be protecting shiho forever, but, akai/okiya's appearance
has changed all this thoughts. As for now, no one can deny that okiya is the main protector of haibara and maybe her husband in the future .
what about you guys ? what do you think concerning this relationship between Okiya and Shiho?

They can't be a couple. It would be one of the most creepy hook-ups ever even for Japanese standards.

I mean, the man USED TO DATE HER LATE SISTER. Any attempt to hook up with Shiho would be in "rebound zone" and would render Shiho as the "replacement" for her late sister.

So no. That's a ship I rather have sunk.


(Plus, I seriously doubt Shiho would warm up to Okiya, especially after the train arc, and any warming up that may take place would disappear once she finds out he's Akai. You know, the guy who swore to protect Akemi and that IS PARTIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HER DEMISE. I wouldn't be surprised if she grabbed a gun and shot him, for crying out loud.)

^ Yeah. Plus she has an even greater reason than anyone else (excluding Conan) to think that Okiya=Akai, since she has no idea that he died/faked his own death.  Then Okiya made both the "Don't make that face" and "Just as expected of sisters" comments.  Her actions reflect this too, she tried to look at his neck which apparently identifies him as Akai (just a speculation of course) and she is now comfortable around him even though he has the "BO scent" (lol), the only reason for that would be because she knows that he was previously part of the BO but is in fact part of the FBI, so he's not really a threat.

Am I the only one to find the age difference disturbing? =P

Age differences are only disturbing if you consider the "what it might be" instead of the "what it actually is", IMO.

And in this case, any objection about the age gap is unnecessary to bring up because the rest of the reasons why this pairing is the contrary of meant to be are pretty powerful on their own, and they'd still be even if both characters were the same age.

Couldn't agree more! Creepy age difference is probably nothing compared to creepy late-sister's-boyfriend issue! :x

First Gin and now Akai... Is it me or Sherry fans really like seeing her with older guys?

If the couple becomes canon, I will do exactly what Cider's avvie is doing.

age difference isn't a matter, if you remember Minerva Glass she's 8 or 9 years younger than her beloved Ares and they said they will be married, and sonoko's mother also... she's too young compared to her husband.
think about it carefully, Akai is supposed to protect shiho always because of his promise to Akemi, and to do that he will need to be always near to her, so there is nothing better than marrying her, and that will allow him to save her for The rest of his life.

Well...
If Okiya doesn't die before/during the end (whenever that may be )
If he himself feels that falling in love with her might make her uncomfortable and refrains from doing anything for fear of hurting her
If he has sufficiently gained her trust, she falls in love and realizes his feelings, and she knows it wouldn't be because of rebound
And if she even wants to use the antidote to return to normal

....Then I could see this couple working. And even then, I see that more likely to happen in a fanfic than DC.

Other than that, I'd rather just see her stay small and maybe Agasa or Okiya could adopt her. Agasa because he already seems to treat her like a daughter (and she treats him like a concerned daughter). Okiya because, while I don't really want to see them as a couple, I don't mind if he feels obligated to take care of her.
