Re: Detective Conan Files 812-81X discussion thread (Spoiler
For those who want to avoid spoilers they just skip past spoiler boxes, so unless there's a lot of people who don't bother with them, I don't really see the point in this thread...
Though it might be a good idea in the future to avoid having an entire topic in spoiler tags or people not bothering with them spoiling it for others I suppose...

I appreciate this topic idea because maybe I will get the chance to discuss the case with people who don't already know the resolution.Stopwatch wrote: For those who want to avoid spoilers they just skip past spoiler boxes, so unless there's a lot of people who don't bother with them, I don't really see the point in this thread...

Re: Detective Conan Files 812-81X discussion thread (Spoiler
How about having one thread for the spoilers of the cases as they progress (where people wouldn't have to use dozens of spoiler boxes) and then a thread per case created only once the file is released in english ?
Something like this :
'The manga files spoiler thread'
'Files 812-814 discussion thread.'
'Files 815-819 discussion thread.'
etc.
Something like this :
'The manga files spoiler thread'
'Files 812-814 discussion thread.'
'Files 815-819 discussion thread.'
etc.

Re: Detective Conan Files 812-81X discussion thread (Spoiler
I like that idea too, but I think the people who read the spoilers would be sick of having to repeat everything they said in the spoiler thread to the file thread and from how you put it, it'd be unmergable unless there was some way to only merge a section and not have to copy loads of posts out separately.
However, having a spoiler thread and non-spoiler one for the entire case could also encounter problems when new spoilers come out before the English file so non-spoiler people can't look into the spoiler thread without coming across the later stuff.

Re: Detective Conan Files 812-81X discussion thread (Spoiler
Considering DCTP is going to be a file+ behind the Chinese, there is going to be no need for the spoiler people to post here because they will already know the answer by the time DCTP's Eng 2nd chap gets out. Manga readers don't make guesses in the anime only case threads, right?Stopwatch wrote: I like that idea too, but I think the people who read the spoilers would be sick of having to repeat everything they said in the spoiler thread to the file thread and from how you put it, it'd be unmergable unless there was some way to only merge a section and not have to copy loads of posts out separately.
The idea is that the people posting here wouldn't look at any spoilers, they'd just wait for Eng. At worst some titles would get spoiled. It's better than the all or nothing approach now IMHO. Right now my choice is to spoil myself and half understand the case which I don't like, or hope no one in the spoiler thread has screwed up somewhere, and post my guess in the middle of a giant sea of spoiler boxes among people who already know the answer and would rather be talking about the implications of the resolution.Stopwatch wrote: However, having a spoiler thread and non-spoiler one for the entire case could also encounter problems when new spoilers come out before the English file so non-spoiler people can't look into the spoiler thread without coming across the later stuff.

Hmm, I see your point, though in longer files they may still like to discuss. Well, they're not that common anyway.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote:Considering DCTP is going to be a file+ behind of the Chinese, there is going to be no need for the spoiler people to post here because they will already know the answer by the time DCTP's Eng 2nd chap gets out. I mean the arguments and ideas the spoiler people may have come up with when, say, looking through the Chinese file. When the English for that file arrives, if the spoilers haven't revealed the ending, the spoiler people may have to restate their point now that it is no longer a spoiler in the non-spoiler thread.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote:The idea is that the people posting here wouldn't look at any spoilers, they'd just wait for Eng. EDIT: Think of it like the Akai=Okiya theory, even if you're ahead in material from the manga, you still try to get the anime people to go for that theory, right?

The Okiya is Akai theory hasn't been officially revealed, and while I do have an anime-only no spoilers version, I would never go posting after the answer is out. That would be cheating/spoiling, not deduction because deduction can only happen when the answer is still uncertain.Stopwatch wrote: I mean the arguments and ideas the spoiler people may have come up with when, say, looking through the Chinese file. If it's that much work to copy edit posts, don't bother because it is entirely optional. "It might possibly be optional work for spoiler people" is not a good reason not to have this thread for people who don't want to be spoiled and generally wish to post among people who don't have advanced knowledge.
Maybe with a topic like this Abs. would start posting again because Abs. doesn't read spoilers either and has seen too many accidents in the spoilers version of the thread to join in.

Basically, if the spoiler people think one theory happened, but it hasn't yet reached that point and the file where they came up with that idea comes out in English, then they would have to say it in the non-spoiler thread again as well as when they first said it in the spoiler thing, it would just be a minor irritation, but it might get quite annoying when they keep having to do it.
Anyway, as the Chinese files are currently a while ahead of English releases that isn't a problem as of yet, but when there are longer cases or DCTP become less busy (apparently a lot of them are pretty busy atm and that's why the releases aren't quite as quick, pretty sure it's temporary though which it why I don't think spoiler people will know the resolution and so less reason for another topic) it might become one.
(Hopefully, I've explained this properly, but I tend to accidentally imply stuff all the time somehow.)

Eh, well if people always spoiler-tagged we wouldn't be having this discussion, but as they don't, I suppose I agree.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote:The Okiya is Akai theory hasn't been officially revealed, and while I do have an anime-only no spoilers version, I would never go posting after the answer is out. This thread sound like my sister would say. She don't like spoilers on contrary despite our opinion's different. If she saw spoiler tag wasn't use, she'll consider to leave forum because not all people minded there's non-spoiler people. (But she don't read Detective Conan it's she wish not to associate with spoiler)

Conan 48:69, I think you come to wrong thread. -_-;
ADDED: What I meant in my post, I respect my sister's decision not to involve as she has concerns. Please don't take my previous post literally.
What I mean 'our' is 'me and sister'.

Re: Detective Conan Files 812-81X discussion thread (Spoiler
...maybe a better way of putting that would be that spoiler people have a place where they don't have to bother with spoiler tags and non-spoiler people can discuss without risking being spoiled?
Y'know, just reordering it a bit so it doesn't come across as rude
Also, I had agreed with Chekhov that it could be a good idea so you bringing this up after the fact has literally no reason behind it. Why open up a previous conversation that has just been sorted out with agreements on both sides just so you can make a point you think may offend people anyway?

I'll be happy when the member take a moment to stop and read the first post, and has common sense not take spoiler literally. Earlier it did happen I have to step up.
