On Gosho taking frequent breaks...

Post by sushimaster »

What's with Gosho taking frequent breaks? It seems to me he does it on almost every case lately. I don't remember other mangakas taking as much breaks. Could someone enlighten me, please?

I dunno if there's a specific reason. Perhaps he really does need to gather information for cases.

My hope is that something big is coming so he wants to make sure he's got his plans straight.

Because he's a lazy bastard?

Possibly after eighteen years he's finally starting to run dry on murder theories, but he still doesn't have a plan for the end, so his brain is all "SHITSHITSHITSTALLSTALLSTALL"

42 DC files (760 to 801) + 2 Magic Kaito files published in 2011.

One year = 52 weeks, but only 48 Shônen sunday magazines because of double-issues (2 around christmas and new-year, one during Golden week and one on Obon).

This means that Gosho took 4 breaks in 2011. I don't see how that's outrageous.

As for 2012, the one between 811 and 812 will be his second one. However, don't forget that Gosho sometimes takes breaks because he is asked to do other things for the franchise, such as drawing keyframes for the movie.

Yes, I understand the Japan holidays & the magazine breaks. On those days dc is not the only manga that's on a break. I was just wondering about the non-event ones, which you explained above. Thanks!

I think he must also have time to read all those mystery novels for his "Detective of the month" drawings

lol, I can't help but feel this thread screams people not understanding how much work it takes to draw a one page in a comic book, and then have the next pages work well with it, and then have the story work out... and then he works within page limits, that's a huge pain. All in a weekly deadline.

I seem to recall him posting his daily schedule in some interview, and wondering when he sleeps.

He sleeps 3 hours a night and uses his breaks to sleep as well.
