First, something I forgot:
I remember in one of the subtitles/translations for the anime there was dialogue between Gin and I believe Vodka, and the context I believe was the idea of someone taking down the Black organization, and Gin responded by saying something like: 'No one can stop our canon' or something to that effect, but the the word canon was used in the subtitle/translation and in the context referred obviously to either the Black Organization or the goals of the Organization as far as I remember. I am aware of what canon means in this dialogue, I am just interested in why it got translated to canon...and if this is a clue or not
Even though its just one word I think its one of the rare times someone in the Black Orgnization -- besides Haibara -- makes even a passing reference to their own organization like this =)
Can anyone remember which episode this was off the top of their head? I am interested in the context of this dialogue and how the word was translated to "canon" specifically (hopefully the dialogue was pulled from the manga and we can look at the raw translation)

The second question concerns the actual topic, I can't seem to remember too many DIRECT clues, if any, as to the name of the organization. The biggest indirect clues I can recall deal with vague origins of the black organization, the organizations supposed purpose/goals/known-objectives, the characteristics of its members, basically everything Haibara has ever said, and general clues&speculation about "anokata" (location, occupation, etc); many of the hints though lead to speculation more of their purpose rather than their name:
- the age of the organization; how old is it? -- Haibara mentions it is at least 50 years old: http://forums.dctp.ws/viewtopic.php?p=1981#p1981
- Sherlock Holmes (their are plenty of references to Holmes and Arthur Conan Doyle throughout the manga when dealing with the Black organization, and references to other fictional detectives)
- Interest in Detectives & Kudo Shinichi; Haibara hints that the Black organization has long laid out plans for Kudo Shinichi (see above link).
- Computer games / Software Design
- Music: Nanatsu no ko (the boss' number): http://forums.dctp.ws/viewtopic.php?t=174.msg2968 - Seven baby crows / Seven year old child? (Don't tell me the boss is seven years old and shrunk like Conan =) )
- Known members have been all criminals so far; seem to be all extremely 'talented' in one field or another (Gin actually seems like a bit of a detective to me.. in anticipating Conan's (and Haibara's) moves)
- Members usually wear all black clothing
- The aliases/names of the members are all alcoholic drinks; funnily enough "anokata" nicknames Akai as the "Silver bullet," which the non-drinkers learn in ep345 a "Silver bullet" is a dry martini =)
- Criminal acts in general by the org, including: blackmail (the very first episode; for funding?.. for what though?), murder (they do this a lot; also the organizations tendency to cannabalize their own members who fail the organization, expose themselves, or don't follow their goals), political assassination (the Mizunashi Rena incident), etc.
- (speculative) Their interest in the nature of life, death, and aging {interest in pharmacology(4869 - the shrinking drug) + the famous "raise the dead against the stream of time" quote}; these probably being the most interesting and most hit upon clues concerning the goals of the organization
Silly and dark joke: Regarding "raising the dead against the stream of time", and since they obviously are interested in pharmacology: Maybe the organization is an American HMO, trying to raise the dead to pay for their medical bills! (think of how much you could charge people who you brought back from the dead! And also no escaping -- even after death! -- the financial debts you have)
