Poirot Reference (Manga Chapter 641)
Did anyone else notice that the name of the coffee shop in the beginning was "Poirot". Hercule Poirot was a detective in the ever popular Agatha Christie novels... w/e... I thought it was interesting lol...

Heh, yeah. It's been referenced even earlier, by the way. I remember it being in one of the "Shadows of the Black Organization" episodes. Possibly the "big reward" one.
Unlike Gosho's other references, this one just kinda jumps at you. Not very obscure

Like the first or second episode with the "Columbo" restaurant... Yeah, pretty obvious references there.

Conan anime has alot of references to stuff. Bet you didn't notice Conan reading a Inuyasha manga in one of the episodes either. haha

Re: Poirot Reference (Manga Chapter 641)
I remember that, but I can't remember the episode. All I remember is he's sitting on Kogoro's couch when he's reading it (ie: not in a library, school, Agasa's, etc).
It makes some sense though, since they're both from Shonen Sunday. Infact, I found a picture somewhere (I think someone posted it on Knightus' cbox, can't remember) with Conan's cast interacting with Inuyasha's. Inuyasha with a magnifying glass and Conan with Tetsusaiga is interesting.
Plus in Inuyasha there were 2 references to Detective Conan. One of the school festivals has a couple that looks just like Shinichi and Ran walk by, and in another Kagome's little brother goes on a date and dresses like Conan. I'm on a roll so I'll also mention in Black Cat, Train gets shrunk for an episode and he's being forced into all these outfits (the other characters find it cute), and one is a Conan suit. Even more humorous since the VA for Chibi-Train was Minami Takayama.

Re: Poirot Reference (Manga Chapter 641)
Lol... the end all thing would be if DC had a DC reference (I love it when movies/shows break the 4th wall... maybe that is one of the reasons I love Spaceballs
)... anyways... would it be possible to like have an official "Detective Conan References" page?... like not this one... but have a Mod make one and sticky it?... IDK... thought it might be cool. Oh yeah, not to change the subject... but how come I am the only "NON-DC-AVATARED-USER"? lol... maybe it is because I love being original! w/e... please keep the references coming...
P.S. Jd-, would you be my friend?

if you look closely during the 14th OP (START), you can see Ayumi reading the Conan manga.
Noticed this one while doing karaoke for the OP.

Re: Poirot Reference (Manga Chapter 641)
My wife started me watching Conan (she's from japan and has been watching it since 1996)
and she says in the beginning, most of the characters' names are references from famous detective novels and authors.
For instance, Dr. Agasa is a reference to Agatha Christie
Edogawa Conan is, of course, a ref to Conan doyle and Rampo Edogawa (famous japanese detective author)
Mouri Kogoro- Mouri is supposed to be a ref to Colonel Sebastian Moran, an employee to Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes' enemy, and Kogoro is a ref to Akechi Kogoro, Edogawa Rampo's detective character inspired by sherlock holmes.
Also, in the first movie, the bad guy's name is Teiji Moriya, a ref to Moriarty.

Re: Poirot Reference (Manga Chapter 641)
Since you mentioned the name of the coffee shop, has anyone notice the name of their school? It's Teitan School right? Then teitan reversed is tantei which is detective?

thanks DCTP!!! ♥♥♥

that played a role in one of the conan episodes which eventually led to conan saving his own life as well as takagi's while saving the school.
