I don't think Conan will ever end

Unless it starts to fall off the top 10 most watched anime shows in japan.

It just doesn't make sense for a profit point of view. Plus, as long as conan keeps making it to the number one spot in movie rankings whenever a new movie is released, I think they will keep making new movies and thus =\= conan ending.

However, despite this, I actually don't want conan to end, somehow I find the fact that they keep prolonging but releasing new info about the BO in the story arcs to be much more entertaining then having Conan end and having nothing to watch.

What do you guys think? I mean I know that Aoyama has already written the ending to Conan, but I do not think that in itself will indicate that Conan will end anytime soon.

Actually, there's no reason why the movies have to stop just because the series has ended.

I pretty much agree but after they get to the end of the manga story, I really hope at most we just get a Detective Shinichi movie or short series with lots of help from Gosho.

Which wouldn't surprise me as Detective Conan doesn't have the merchandise of other series that should have ended after the manga storyline ended. (HI DRAGONBALL GT)

Yeah, I think this is what most fans want.

(spoiler for the current manga case)
Spoiler:
If in the current case Eri and Kogoro will make up with each other, then Gosho clearly wants to finish side stories and I think it hints on the fact that he plans to finish Conan next year

and there's even more hints:
Spoiler:
*Gin is close in finding conan's identity
* kaito kid is appearing a lot recently
*the couples arc is starting to end
* bourbon is smart
Spoiler:
As long as he doesn't create more couples, after Eri and Kogoro it's pretty much done. The only remains are Shinich and Ran, Heiji and Kazuha, and Jodie and Akai, but all of them depend more on the story than on Gosho's random cases...maybe except Kazuha and Heiji, unless that couple will be resolved during a plot related case

I'm not reading the manga but unless I'm missing something this pairing will be the last one to be "completed" and I don't see it happening until the very end of the manga. This pairing is too complex to finish now because Eri isn't going to move back with Kogoro(unless Gosho wants to add a lot of Eri suspicion arcs, which means he's not really wrapping anything up) and if she doesn't move in Kogoro will continue to be the same, which was the reason she left him.

Actually, even if she did move in, unless Gosho plans to change Kogoro's character for the rest of the series, he would still be doing everything Eri left him for. This pairing in my mind can only end with the series where you don't need to explain what happens between them after they get back together.

it could be that Eri will say "I'll come back to you, I just need some time to prepare myself" and conviniently, she'll come back in the end. Or, maybe Gosho will get the two back together, send them to a second honeymoon and write Kogoro off the show because he'll have a new VA  ;D that could actually be the biggest plot twist the series actually had until now! Ran starts to live alone with Conan and the two stumble into more cases, and without Kogoro, Conan can't use "sleeping Kogoro" so he'll have to solve them on his own and slowly Ran finds out more and more and then she puts Shinichi in a corner which he can't escape from and he finally reveals the truth

edit: you know what? I actually love it. Get Kogoro off the show so we'll have a new approach with cases!

I prefered my "Kogoro dies shortly after realizing everything with Conan and realizing he wasn't a great detective, tells no one, Kid and Conan want revenge against evil organization/s, Eri, Conan and Ran live together and Ran very slowly but surely finally realizes (for real this time) that Conan is Shinichi" idea. But that works too.

I prefer that Kogoro and Eri get back together, but then Gin decides to stop screwing around and attempt to take out the "variable", which he sees as Mouri Kogoro.  Obviously, for the sake of fans he wouldn't die, but he'd end up critically injured and in the hospital for the rest of the series.

This allows a new dynamic of Conan-Ran-Eri, as well as relieving us of the new VA issue.  And it doesn't completely go into Conan+Kid fan fiction.  Also, it gives him an out for why he doesn't go Sleeping Kogoro anymore after everything is said and done.

if gin thinks that mouri is the "sly fox" because of 425, why didn't the organization kill him?
cause Gin has no evidance, and knowing this slow organization, it'll take them at least more 50 files to actually think about the next move...
gotta say though, that if Gin investigates more closely the incident in the mall, he'll find out that Kogoro was there and he might think that Kogoro found out about Akai and that the organization will be there...hopefully that is.

I think the series is tapering off, but has quite a while to go. Already one fairly important could-be-pair, Shiatori and Sato, has been resolved with Shiatori and Kobayashi (probably). I bet the series will go on for a couple more years, though. It'll take a while to end a series this big.

Gosho has plenty of wrenches to throw in the works. Remember only Shiratori has been defeated, the rest of the Sato fanclub is still in the way of their happiness. Also, you can't rule out the possibility of a new rival for Takagi ... or Sato. I would like seeing another female police officer who crushes on Takagi. It would be a change from everyone pursing Sato. I hope Gosho finds an excellent and fiendish way to complicate their relationship, and I'm a bad, bad person for wanting to add to their troubles.

As for Conan never ending, I said somewhere in another thread: Every time someone complains that Detective Conan has gone on too long and must end soon, Gosho delays by adding another case.
