I always interpreted that as a yes, Gin did see Conan with Ai, but with the distortion of the flames and the modified voice from earlier, Gin was convinced it was an adult man with an adult Shiho. It might be possible Gin never saw Conan, only heard him on the roof, but because Gin added in the description that the man was carrying Shiho it makes me assume Gin did see him. Also, I am pretty sure the word "boy" used in this translation was originally "otoko" (男) which is better translated as "man" than "boy"...

I don't know, but I think Gin only notices the one that was with Sherry as a "man". Because on the roof, Conan had used his voice-changing gadget. But what really bugs me is that Conan shouted "Ai" in front of Gin's face

I had interpretted it as they knew she was with someone, and because Conan had used the bowtie they thought it was a man. I don't think Gin or Vodka ever thought she was with a boy/child. Course I could have been wrong all this time.
Mabey, but just because he said the boy that carried her, doesnt mean he saw conan, i mean logically she got shot so someone must have carried her and that someone is the boy that saved her from the first place is the 1st thing that will pop in your mind, but then again this isint a good proof that gin didnt see conan.
I haven't read fanscans of that chapter before, but in the VIZ translation he just says to Vermouth "the guy who helped her". I figured that was just due to hearing the adult voice through the modulator on the roof, and wasn't under the impression that he ever saw Shinichi leaving with Ai. He was at the back of the room when Pisco was rooting around in the chimney, but from the angle of the artwork it looked to me like fire obscured the view of them from the chimney.
